Hello @debduh11, Welcome to Connect. I can't even imagine how difficult it has been for you trying to manage the pain for 20+ years. @steeldove shared this article in another discussion about the challenges similar to what you have faced.
Is a pain rehabilitation center the same as pain management center. If so, yes. I go once a month. They give me my narcotic scripts and have given me many injections in the past but nothing for my neuropathy just my spine.

Hi @debduh11 - John is correct, pain rehabilitation focuses on using non drug therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. Lifestyle changes are often coached as well. Rehabilitation is more of the whole person approach, helping both mind and body, and may include reducing or omitting unnecessary medications. Here is an overview of the Mayo Clinic's Pain Rehab Center in case you are curious to learn more:
No, I haven't tried pain rehabilitation. If I were to choose that route and it doesn't help, than my pain management doctor will not allow me to go back on pain meds. I am not even allowed to try cbd vapes, gummies, even the oils. I've asked and was told that I would be kicked out of their management program. Also might I mention that I have a sacral plate that has broken with screws that have relocated elsewhere away from the plate and was told by my neurosurgeon that he would not attempt to remove the plate or the hardware. This, I believe, is causing some of my 10+ chronic pain issues. Your reply is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
I have a plate inserted in my lower back. My surgeon and I both believe it is causing me much pain. Reason being I am allergic to metal. Doctor said he would remove it. Recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Depending on what has to be cut to remove the plate may be the big question? If you have it attached to your spine and over many years you may have some issues due to surgical insult to your tissues. No surgery is fun let alone back surgery. Good luck.
I too HAD peripheral neuropathy. My medical doctor said it was caused by my 6.5 A1C diabetes. My arthritis doctor told me the cause was associated to my psoriasis and offered medicines like Humira (not covered by insurance) to relieve but not cure the problem. My foot doctor wanted to operate on my foot.
None offered that statins increase the risk for diabetes and lack of muscle mass. It was a chiropractor that used thermal imaging on my legs to determine my lack of blood flow to my legs. Lack of blood flow will cause the nerves to die with a result of pain or no feeling. He suggested that Softwave Technology, a none invasive light wave technology, can increase stem cells that will repair the arteries. (https://hnhchiro.com/the-science-of-softwave-therapy-how-it-works-and-why-its-effective/) Once the arteries are repaired the blood will flow again. Once the blood flows it will begin to nourish and repair the nerves. There were 12 treatments over 2 months. There was some self care treatment at home using red light therapy and a Tens foot bath. After 3 months color returned to my feet and they began to feel normal again. This treatment is not recognized by insurance companies so this is an out of pocket expense.
I suggested that my 85 year old friend with no feeling in her feet (she thought caused by chemo therapy) visit my chiropractor for an evaluation. In three months she had positive results.
I am not a doctor so this is not from a clinical study, it is from a real life experience. If you try it I pray that you will get the same positive results.
Rosie,
I use a TENS unit from Oxiline.com. Lots of them out there to choose from. Alpha lipoic acid is good. For increased blood flow to small veins, OPC3 Isotonix from shop.com is the best I have found in my 20 years of taking it. Keep searching and you will get relief. My best!
Thank you for your reply. I have been taking B6 daily. I will stop taking it tomorrow and see if my pain and numbness decreases.

@debduh11, I'm not really sure but I think a pain rehabilitation center focuses on using non drug therapy. Here's discussion on the Mayo Clinic Pain Rehabilitation Center where you can meet @rwinney and others to see what they have shared:

Have you dabbled with any rehabilitation therapies or lifestyle changes to assist with pain management?
