Need info on a place to stay for free or low cost at Mayo Clinic

Hi Shane, Finding inexpensive lodging around Mayo isn’t an easy task. The further away from the center of the city, hotels tend to be a little less.

Another idea would be to check in with Mayo Clinic’s Concierge Services. The concierge team provides free support for patients and helps with things like finding lodging, travel plans and such.

Do you have your Mayo Clinic online patient portal set up? It will be the main communication between you and your medical team, appointment calendar, test results, etc.

You don't mention what type of treatment you're receiving at Mayo Clinic or if you're going to Rochester. If you're going to Rochester for cancer treatment, you can apply for free housing during treatment at the Hope Lodge. It is within walking distance to the clinic buildings.

We have to go back to the Mayo clinic soon. We came home since this and we had a lot of problems while we were down there. We had gotten one night free from the hospital, the Mayo Clinic itself and a hotel and when we went to go home, Medicaid paid for a ride but they told us 11 AM. They’d be there and we end up having to sit till 7 PM at night outside waiting because they messed up something and we had to wait on a ride to get there. Well we have to go back and I really need to get an appointment set up to start my treatment to get my definite diagnosis. They said that it’s a mass in my final report that is blocking my two bile ducks and is at the top of my liver and it needs treatment because it’s aggressive so I just didn’t know how to set up lodging and a ride and everything because I have to have that set up before I go because I don’t have the money for it, I haven’t been able to work because of this and I’m trying to get Social Security and that hasn’t been easy either so I was just trying to check to see if anybody knew anywhere that I could stay. They wouldn’t cost any money that maybe they funded because they have like a lot of donations and funding supposed to be. For just people that don’t have the money because of their illness to help them and the hope Lodge won’t let me stay there unless I have a confirmed cancer diagnosis and I have started chemotherapy or radiation or something like that so does anybody have any recommendations?

Not so good I’m trying to get the lodging figured out before I go so I don’t end up in the same situation. I was having when I went down there for the appointment so I’m trying to figure out where I could get free lodging from through the hospital or through one of the funding that they get.
