Thanks

Spider I guess compared to more severe BE amounts, your amount does not seem that bad. I once read a chart that compared mucus amounts to severity of BE. I remember that 5 oz or more was considered a sign of severe BE. BUT I am sure that is not the only indicator or necessarily correct. A CT is probably the only real way to know how severe your BE is. In terms of measuring amount, you can use a paper cup and mark lines on the outside of it. Put water into it that you have measured to make the lines. The cups I use are solid but you can still see through in enough lighting. Then if you use the same cups you get a feeling for how much mucus you are coughing up.

Thanks! The liquid Geri Tussin sounds interesting. Never heard of that. I have to wait for Brinsupri until I get on Medicare Part D which I currently do not have. Your mucus amount is not that much so that is good. And it does not sound like you are battling any infections? I tried the LC cup this morning. It takes much longer than the sprint cups. I have not done 3 sessions of nebulizing a day because I do not like to reuse a previously used cup without soaking it and letting it totally dry out. I would need to purchase a third set. So far I do 2 sessions am and late afternoon/early evening. Take care.

Irenea8 - I hear you about not wanting to use a cup without soaking and letting it totally dry out. I soak my cups after use, and then I put them straight in a UV Sanitizer for 60 minutes. It was expensive to buy, but I feel it's well worth it. One hour later my cups are dry and sanitized, after being soaked. I read that pseudomonas often occur from dirty cups so I'm a bit paranoid! Here is the link for the one I have but I'm sure you can find others. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GY5VKB4

Great tip thank you! I looked it up and UV in the range the device offers does kill Pseudo A. I may get one. Do you also boil once a week or so just to be sure?

Yes, I absolutely boil once a week as well.
Better to be safe than sorry.

What I’ve done many times in the past is I actually pour all of my secretions into a measuring cup at the end of the last session (pm) the am and midday sessions I spit into a clear bottle and keep it until the pm session ends. Now I agree with you it is mixed with saliva but I believe that is the thin bubbly layer on top, and the thicker layer below that is the mucus. Mucus I believe is heavier than saliva, so naturally it would go to the bottom. Similar to oil & water. My mucus is generally a cloudy white color. And when I finish I pour all three accumulated sputum into the measuring cup.

I question whether the uv light will hit all of the inside of a cup. The light can only travel in a straight line. It might work on an open cup if the opening was aimed directly at the light source. Also, only a certain wavelength (254 nm) is germicidal. Have you checked the wavelength of this device?
