Nausea taking 2.4 mg of wegovy. No issues before
I have lost 47 lbs since starting wegovy. Started with the lowest dose of 0.25 and have gone up each month. I am now at the highest dose of 2.4 mg. Had a little nausea first week but have tolerated the medication real well. Unfortunately that’s not the case with the 2.4 mg dose. Nausea is real bad for days. The constipation is a big issue for first time since starting wegovy. Any ideas please let me know

Congratulations on your weight loss! I haven’t taken this med, but hear good things about it. Have you contacted your doctor about it? Is the high dose required? I tend to prefer the lowest dose possible on my meds. I’d check with your doctor ref doses though.

Impressive weight loss. You're not alone with side effect of nausea, Abby McWaters, Registered Dietitian at Mayo just posted in Weight Management Blog on Mayo Connect with suggestions to prevent or at least reduce nausea.

Have you tried any of the suggestions in article?

Today start the .5 Wegovy. Did .25 and nothing. No side effects, no reduction in appetitie, or weight reduction.
I am glad you asked the question and interested in what others will say as I can use the information also. I see the monitor listed a web page so will review that also.
Glad to see you lost that 47 lbs. I don't eat huge meals it is snack eating and stress/anxiety eating (snacks) that is my issue.
My two issues are sweets and overeating. The wegovy has changed that craving for sweets. It was after the fourth week injection that I realized that. I found out the hard way when eating to much.🤢 horrible. I was fine after that fourth week. Not until I was at the highest dose of 2.4 mg. First week injection omg I was sick. The night before I had some delicious Brussels sprouts half of a blt sandwich. All bad. Brussels sprouts are a no no on wegovy. Now I’m on second week of 2.4 and still feel a little nauseated after I eat. Dr gave me zofran for the nausea. That did the trick feel great, except wegovy and zofran is can cause constipation. So I had to deal with that. I will keep going two more injections of the 2.4 mg and then discuss with my Dr if it’s better to stay at the lower dose of 1.7 mg. Be patient

Thanks was very helpful.
What kind of food did you eat that triggered issues? If you get constipation (which I hear is comon) what is the best remedy?
Sausage and bacon egg breakfast sandwich. Brussel sprouts omg horrible next day. Docusate sodium 250 mg I take one at noon. Sometimes I eat three sweet prunes in low fat cottage cheese. That helps me. What I have learned any meals I make at home I eat half of the meal. That moment I feel my stomach is saying enough, I stop eating. It's hard to do when used to eating all of your plate. Patience I keep telling myself.

Thank for feedback.
I find myself eating all on my plate even if full. It goes back to a very poor childhood and eating all that was on your plate meant not wasting food. Have to learn to do exactly what you are doing on stopping at the "no need ot eat more." I do get to a point where really don't need to eat more but don't want to waste food and/or out of taste.
I think a smaller plate would also help. I have not gotten to the constipation side affect on my WEGOVY. I will try your suggestions when I do. I started .5 on Monday nothing yet. I have to STOP counting on WEGOVY to fix my weight and realize I have to do my part.
I don't think WEGOVY would like the publicy that I actually have gained weight since being on WEGOVY 1.1 months ago.
@jc76
I remember the days of not being allowed to leave dinner table till plate clean. Nothing was wasted. The best advice is not to put as much on plate. Take very small portions, like dishing it up for a 5 year old. If finish plate, wait, give time for brain to catch up with stomach. If REALLY still hunger, then can go back for more.
You will especially see that at holiday, at Thanksgiving it is so obvious how everyone overeats. I take a small spoonful of my favorites, if not favorite, do not take. I still enjoy meal and family without worried about making myself sick.
I am now on second week of .5 WEGOVY. Nothing while on .25. Maybe a slight decline on appetite and snacking on .50. I weigh weekly. At least this week my weight did not go up but did not go down either.
I don't think I can add any more exercise to this old 77 year body. The wear and tear is starting to show up with many joints and muscles aches. I am going to use a smaller plate for meals even though I am only eating 1/2 of food on plate lately.
My PCP says need to do weight training as my body is getting used to my routine which is mostly aerobic exercises.
Are my results typical so far with those who have used WEGOVY?
Take my last dose of .5 WEGOVY on 15th. Start level 1 a week from now.
No reduction in apettite except at dinner and it is not strong. Snacking still my issue. No constipation but change in bowel frequency and type.
Is my experience the norm?
It is a long process it seems to get to the level that works. I have not lost any weight at all so far.
Bummer!
