Natural remedies for MAC

Posted by med08 @med08, Sep 30, 2022

Some have posted they use Chinese herbs and acupuncture to help with MAC. Which herbs and what part of body do you get acupuncture and for what specifically?

Oh well. I got it at Yellowstone so not sure where one can go.

I refuse to take the big 3. It would be conflicting with other autoimmune diseases I have. I do percussion vest and 7% saline 30 minutes twice a day. I am currently in hospital with pleurisy 5 days now. But, my last visit with pulmonologist 3 months ago showed nothing got better and nothing got worse. I was happy with that. Now with this new problem, I don't know. I just cannot do the big 3.

I agree that it sounds like the side effects are worse than the disease therefore I am one that believes that I would rather live a good quality of life than a horrible quantity of life. I am working on my immune system to fight this. I am taking B Complex shots and several other immune building things on top of the one antibiotic that everyone says I shouldn’t take by itself I have spoken to 5 doctors and have also been referred to an Infectious Diseases doctor that I am currently waiting to hear from for an appointment. One doctor said to do nothing and recheck in 6 months. The 4 other doctors say that the 3 med cocktail is the chosen choice to kill this bug but understand that the side effects are sometimes very unpleasant and also can cause permanent damage to other organs. Therefore, at this stage I am reading all I can to figure this out and this group is absolutely wonderful. I am feeling great and have lots of energy. I am a widow and I live on an acreage that I mow and keep looking nice by myself without any problem. I would like to know any remedies that people have tried to avoid taking horrible drugs with horrible side effects.
I did get a nebulizer and am using 7% saline but still not coughing up anything. I would like to know any other suggestions of what to do to help except take more drugs. Maybe a trip to Hawaii. Lol
Thanks everyone

Have you tried attaching your nebulizer to Aerobika while nebulizing? That worked for me! Also, I began doing postural drainage, that brings up more, and finishing with Autogenic Drainage app, for last little bit in my lungs! Hope this helps!

An Aerobika is a must for airway clearance. Order online. I order 3 every year, at same time, so I can rotate and keep clean. If you order all at once you never have a problem remembering how long you have had each one! (I just learned this trick from fellow BE sister!)
Postural drainage just google! Autogenic drainage is an app on phone! Simple 2 min deep breathing!
Be sure and check out http://www.letsbecleartoday
Great source of information. You can follow her on IG, FB. - be clear with Bronchiectasis!

Glad to help, let me know if you have more questions! Glenda

I do an at home ivig infusion prescribed by my Doc. Keeps antibodies up that I lack naturally which I believe got me into this mess in the first place. Diagnosed with SAD...
Specific Antibodies Deficiency. Blood test for titers will tell you this info. I am super low ,even after immunizations for pneumonias/staphylococcus & streptococcus.
This protocol alone keeps those bugs away. For the MAC, since I just starting chemo for BC, doc started me on Azithromycin 3 x week and antifungal every day to be sure aspergillous or MAC does not flare up during the next 5 months since that could become a VERY SERIOUS situation for me. Before thus I was just doing IVIG / vest and nebb... but honestly now I'm really bad with actually doing both. SOOO much going on tn.
Best of luck to to! Holla back of you need any more info.

I have been on the three meds for 3 years. My eye doctor, who I see yearly, knew which one affects sight; however no one mentioned that Azithromycin affects hearing. I only recently researched all three and found the reason for my substantial hearing loss - Azithromycin. I should have gotten a baseline hearing test at the beginning but it was never mentioned. My husband is sitting 6’ from me in our family room and I can’t hear him now - my hearing has been severely affected.

Kampo is Chinese herbs practiced in Japan(covered by health insurance there).I read in the National Library of Medicine a “Case study Kampo medicine for NTM pulmonary disease “ It sounds like they wrote about me.Reads it.
I read your previous posts on herbs and as usual you are right on point.Since my pneumonia last July4 it has been all downhill.
