I've had non-alcoholic FL Disease for at least 8 hrs and I get checked (liver scan) every year. Up until this past year, all seemed well until summer after having severe anemia. Now doc tells me I have stage 3 liver disease....I'm getting a fiberscan in 2 weeks and hope to find out more. Am a 73 yo female and feel fine, just low energy.
I have fatty liver disease and now high blood pressure, pretty sure I am going to be paced on blood pressure medicine but so far they all say don't take with liver disease. Any suggestions?

@ladyesheryl - that sounds like a good question. What I did was to move your post with your query about taking blood pressure meds with fatty liver disease to this discussion where many members are talking generally about having NAFLD themselves or experiencing it with a loved one:

Our adult-child has had fatty-liver, found several months ago. Not at all overweight at the time, nor diabetic, an unhealthy diet and, would you believe, over-use of Tylenol earlier on (she is 34yo) cited as contributors to problem. Has at least 9 blood diagnoses but not many due to liver issues. Severely high cholesterol including much plaque buildup. Also A Fib. Frequent transfusions as cannot maintain potassium, magnesium, platelets, iron (others) at decent levels. Low platelets brought under control with a splenectomy. Of course most of this Not due to fatty-liver disease. Get better!

You mention finding out your blood pressure is high and probably needing medication to control it, but they all say don’t take. I am not sure if you are researching medications and have not found any that are safe to take because you also have fatty liver disease, or if your doctor(s) have told you not to take them. It will help if you could explain a bit more, maybe clarify your situation.
Hi @kitoibay2 - how are you feeling about your upcoming scan?

Thanks for asking. I've put this off since 9/25 so will be happy just to get this over with!

Hello, @ladyesheryl. Thanks for the tag, @lisalucier.

My understanding is decisions about which medication to take depends on the reason why your blood pressure is elevated. Also, your doctor will prefer prescribing only when lifestyle (diet and exercise) doesn’t do enough. You may want to review a couple resources, if you haven’t already that provide more information about treating blood pressure.

How long have you known that you have fatty liver disease, and do you have symptoms?
