Myocarditis for over a year

Posted by eccalif @eccalif, Dec 26, 2025

For over 1 year I have complained about chest pain to my DRs. -Several tests were done including ECG, ECHO, Stress test and MRI. They found a Aortic Aneurysm of 4.4- but communicated that the aneurysm would not cause any pain.
DRs concluded that I had costochondritis. I kept complaining- and they sent me to Physical Therapy.
My pain just got worse. I finally received a Cardiac MRI- where they found "Peri/myocarditis of unknown chronicity".
Recent Blood work seems normal- with no sign of inflammation
White Blood Cell Count- 6.1K/uL
Troponin I, High Sensitivity Value. < 12
CRP Value < 2.9
Dr. Says my heart is still functioning at 100%
Drs placed me on Colchicine and shared sometimes Myocarditis gets better and other times it gets worse.
I'm in Constant pain
I've already waited a year for answers.
What questions should I be asking?
What other tests should I be getting?

Are there good Cardiologist in Bay Area, Calif?
Thanks!

Hello @eccalif ,
I see that you posted last year wondering if your aortic aneurysm could be the cause of your chest pain, and here you are, one year later with a whole new set of information!
It must be stunning to learn after all this time, and because of your persistence, to learn you now have something scary and painful.
It is good to listen to your body...you know you better than anyone, and you knew something was wrong!

I have posted a few links for learning more about what you have...it seems that most myocarditis is caused from a virus. The experts have now also admitted that the Covid Vaccine is linked to this condition as well.
Have you been able to locate a cardiologist in the Bay Area that you can make an appointment with?
Can your PCP recommend one?
The Bay Area has many Centers of Excellence to choose from, such as UCSF and Stanford...have you explored contacting any of them?
The Mayo Clinic specializes in treating rare and complicated cases, you can always reach out to the Mayo as well.

Thank you @karukgirl
I have a cardiologist at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, but unfortunately it took nearly a year to receive this diagnosis.
I feel like I lost valuable time, which makes me both sad and angry.
I’ve asked for a referral to Stanford Cardiology and will also follow @manuelpo’s advice to request an appointment at Mayo Clinic.
Is there anyone here who has overcome chronic myocarditis, or is this something I may need to live with long-term?

Wishing everyone good health in 2026
