My eye specialist says my presure is very high, 19 right eye, 17 left

I was having watery eyes practically 24/7 occasionally dry. I told him this. I was given Latanoprost 0.005% I used it for about 3months. I woke up one morning couldn't see a thing for a moment. plus it made the drainage from my eyes worst, so I stop using it, when I went to my next appointment, I told my specialist I stopped using it and why. so he prescribed another eye drop, Combigan 0.5% I never used it becaused it had the same side effects as the Latanoprost and some more. increase water in eyes, itching, swelling of eye lid, ect. Now i'm on Lumigan 0.5% I feel like I have a log in my eye, full of water. For the last three days I haven't used it, my eye feel much better. I looked up normal presure and it's between 12-22 so what gives?

Probably because I use an AutoPap for obstructive sleep apnea my eye pressure was said to be elevated. Then I was prescribed Alphagan. After a few months my right eye was seeing double. I believe I may have accidentally gotten more than a single drop in the right eye. It is difficult for me to control. According to Mayo Clinic double vision, diplopia, is a common side effect of Alphagan. My esteemed Opthamologist disagreed.

Until the double vision returned to normal I took no eye drops. That took about 3 months. Now I am taking Lumigan 0.01%, each evening one drop in each eye, then keep eyes closed two minutes because that improves the effect by 25%. There have been no ill effects.

Like many diseases glaucoma has no proven cause. Most glaucoma have high eye pressure while some have normal.
Treatment usually eye drops which exist with diverse effects of lowering the pressure.
Regular visits to the ophthalmology clinic and some believe in optisafe eye vitamins mostly lutein copper plus others.
Happens more frequently if there's a progenitor who has it or had it.
Maybe bad perfusion to optic nerve....

Thank you for your feedback. However since my specialist said I need surgery to correct my Cataract and glaucoma problems, I have decided to get a second opinion. My MD advised me to get a second opinion if I have observation's, which I do.

@caldonia1 - my patient experience tells me that he is trying use a non-medical term that means that you are in early stage. Now is the time to take preventable measures and have follow up monitoring by your ophthalmologist. Do you have a regular opthamalogist?

Good to know your sight is getting better. I'm was taking Lumigan 0.02% and I didn't like it. it made my eyes swell up with water, right eye more than the left. it felt like my right eye was going to burst, felt like a log was in it, eyes became very sensitive to light. I stopped using it last Wednesday and my eyes feel much better. Tis is the third eye drop I've tried, and they all pretty much have the same side effects, except the Lumigan made my eyes feel worse than any of the others. I told my eye specialit my eyes was drainging almost every day, the only time I had dry eyes was when I used my Electric Blanket.

I took another look at my COMBIGAN 0.2%/0.5% was my second eye drop that after reading the clinical study I didn't use, I was to put one drop twice a day in both eyes. It had the same side effects as the Latanprost0.005%. I don't believe I need eye surgery just as my MD said. ust get some strong glasses, he said my focus is off. Yes I may have Cataract and Angular Glaucoma, but once my lin in my eye is removed and the artificial lin put in it place it can't be undone. I will be tunnel vision.

I can see that you have had difficulties with the eye treatments that he has given to you. Have you considered getting a second opinion? Or changing to a different opthamologst? Have you been tested for allergies that could be causing the sensitivity and reaction to the prescribed drops?

I have Pigmentary glaucoma. It's so rare, that only 1 in 10,000 have it. I had never had any check for glaucoma in my life until I was 42. I am 83 now. When first found in 1982, my opthomologist said, I at most had only 5% of my optic nerve remaining. My pressures were in my left eye 39 and in my right eye 37. They are supposed to be below 18 in both eyes. I was sent to an eye surgeon in Dallas for a second opinion. He said, he had never seen worst
eyes ever. As bad as it sounds, I took Timoptic in the beginning lowering my pressures in both eyes around 15.
My field tests were showing I was losing my upper vision and two weeks ago, my field test showed worse upper vision. I now take combigen and Lumigan. I have never had a problem with either eye drop.
Glaucoma is definitely determined by losing vision in the optic nerve at the back of the eye. Pressure build up and cannot get out as the angles clog up. Taking drops keep the pressure down. My last visit my eye pressures were 12 in both of my eyes. For me, both of these eye drops have been a savior for me. Otherwise, I would be blind but I play golf and can see my ball up in the sky and rolling along the ground. I hope those of you with watery eyes, etc. can find a cause. I do not have watery eyes and never have.
