Muscle cramps and stiffness
I have just started my Mac journey . I am a sever asthmatic been that way since birth . Now have copd and emphysema. Just diagnosed with Mac and Bronchiectasis. Which I believe I have had for awhile but was just believed it was my asthma . Never lost any weight in fact I have gained weight . Also thought the night sweats and hot flashes just was menopause. Now that I'm on the 3 antibiotics I am getting terrible muscle cramps and stiffness. Was wondering if anyone has any ways of making them better ?

@tglatthorn I had the same problem with statins - plus extreme leg/thigh cramps - sometimes my leg would lock up in a tight cramp as I was walking on the road!
Did you keep taking statin?
I was taking CoQ10, my heart doctor said I don't need because the statin is not causing muscle pain.
I mean I see boxes of this supplement in
every store, especially Costco.
I can't be sure if it helped me.
I mean how do you really know?
Now I have a small bottle of mullein and I'm ruminating over that even though I've heard good things about it helping breathing.
I'm going to ask my Pulmonologist tomorrow about the mullein.
Bet myself a steak dinner he won't commit.
My heart doctor is the only one that tells it like it is.
I think I'm ranting.
I've been so depressed lately.

1 Reaction@sheila7a No the effects were too severe. Even the inexperienced nurse practitioner was concerned and said stop. That's when the cardiologist started Repatha, which I tolerate okay. I get extreme fatigue later in the day of taking it, so switched to evening shot with early bedtime and am easy next day. So far it's keeping my LDL way down without a statin. I take CoQ10 by his recommendation, because I also have coronary artery disease, have had angina, and have a dreadful family history of severe heart disease.
When I was hit with MAC and Bronchiectasis, chronic pain, and then Covid started, I was depressed too. The pain rehab clinic recommended a counselor who helped a lot. I still meet with her occasionally. Have you talked to anyone?

1 Reaction@kasper1 We do need to stay hydrated and drink the liquids, however, have you been told that we actually can possibly reduce our sodium level that is needed.
However for me I have leg cramps and foot cramps if my sodium level gets too high. It is a real balancing act...the electrolytes...sodium, potassium, and magnesium.
You may already know all this but just in case.

Hello.
My ID doctor did refer me to behavioral health.
Appointments are being scheduled a year out.
I recently moved into senior apartments and I think that has added to my depression.
I loved my old neighborhood.
There is a very knowledgeable lady working at the health hut near me. She has made me copies of different supplements for my condition.
NAC is on the list. I haven't tried that yet, but did buy some mullein drops.
I want to ask my Pulmonologist what he thinks about adding the mullein.
I have osteoporosis.
The coughing while I do air clearance gives me all kinds of aches and pains.
I figure if the mullein will help loosen the mucus that will maybe cause less strain on my body.
Before Covid I volunteered at the library, walked in the parks, and the mall.
I would even take videos of me running a couple of feet and send to my son.
He got a kick out of them as he is an ultra marathon runner.
Now if I get the laundry done and go to the store I feel like I've run a marathon
I'm not blaming this MAC on covid. It just seems like this all started after covid.
Sorry so long. Close to 1am and I can't sleep.
