Muscle cramps and stiffness
I have just started my Mac journey . I am a sever asthmatic been that way since birth . Now have copd and emphysema. Just diagnosed with Mac and Bronchiectasis. Which I believe I have had for awhile but was just believed it was my asthma . Never lost any weight in fact I have gained weight . Also thought the night sweats and hot flashes just was menopause. Now that I'm on the 3 antibiotics I am getting terrible muscle cramps and stiffness. Was wondering if anyone has any ways of making them better ?

1 Reaction@kasper1 Considering you may have been on many types of medications it is hard to know exactly which and why of what is causing the cramps...but the new meds may be the 'straw that broke the camels back' so to speak. I know that for me if I take certain types of medications I get leg cramps and terrible foot cramps such that the foot twits in. Sodium in various forms will do it for me, cramping in the legs.
I find that potassium and possibly magnesium helps....and bananas.
The information that scoop mentioned, I just read and regarding electrolytes is on target....magnesium and potassium. It does the trick for me with bananas also.

3 ReactionsI had my emotional support heating pad with me for most of my first month of treatment which helped. I also used compression socks and gloves at times when my fingers or kegs/feet got sore and crampy. It took a while for my body to get used to them but agree with other suggestions like magnesium, potassium and maybe epsom salt.

2 Reactions@rmoore901 I love my heating pad as well . My blood work came back a lil worse then last time and doctor is thinking I should stop meds for a week . But I'm not so sure about that . I mean to stop and then start all over again ?? I'm trying to stay the course . I want to feel better again . I will try the compression socks and look for some for my hands and wrist .

1 Reaction@kasper1 did your Dr have you start each of the 3 meds separately? I did mine one at a time. One the first week, add in the second on week two then the third on week three. This was recommended initially to help determine tolerance for each medication. I agree it’s hard to consider stopping then starting back up however it may help to identify if one medication is the culprit for the issues. Even though I did develop a lot of joint pain during week two, my Dr advised to start up the 3rd medication.
@rmoore901 yes I started 1 med for a week then added the second for a week and then the 3rd . I'm almost in month 3 of taking them and just having some issues. But I do believe I am getting sick with some kind of bug so maybe that's adding to it .
@kasper1 sorry to hear you’re coming down with something. I know the flu has been reported to be particularly bad this year and Covid of course is still out there as well. Something like this can definitely contribute to what you’ve been experiencing. Hope you start feeling better soon.

1 Reaction@rmoore901 thank you !!
I had terrible muscle aches for awhile. It turned out to be a side effect of the statin medication. Once I stopped the statin, I felt much better.
