Has anyone used Monolaurin for Epstein Barre Virus?

Posted by bayhorse @bayhorse, Oct 17, 2022

Have any of you used monolaurin for EBV? And if you found it effective, could you let me know what supplement brand you used?

Thanks!

I have been so weak since my 2nd Covid shot; it brought back my Epstein Barr that has been dormant for 17 years and 2-years later, I am still with high EB numbers. I still sleep 10 to 12 hours a day and limit my activity because I am too weak to function. I do floor exercises and walk for 45-minutes in the pool, but can hardly climb out of the pool. After a 5-day pregnisone pack and gabapentin I was dancing in the aisles of the stores shopping and I started my inside painting project. 8 days later the pain in my legs returned, foot neuropathy and leg spasms and horrible cramps returned. I am back on the Calm drink, 1-gabapentin at night and cold shower to calm my legs along with ice packs on my lumbar. I know there is a lot going on with my body, but I am a very active person, work full-time work at home job and I take care of my paralyzed husband. I am now going to try the Swanson Olive Leaf extract and L-Lysine (both 500 mg) twice a day.

The olive leaf and lysine were taken along with Inspired Nutrtion's enhanced Monolauren, 2 scoops/day. I spaced each supplement out as much as possible to enhance their absorbtion. Also I have been using DSMO 70-30 aloe vera to block pain and enhance healng. I have also been using C+ patches from Patchad, because I found that putting them on the aching parts of my body after the DSMO ried helped with pain and healing. Bestwishes for healing and renewed energy.

Hi, Marianne: Could you please tell me what kind of supplements you were using to support your adrenals. My pc, who is board trained in integrative medicine, has me on several supplements, none of which seem to be very helpful.
Meantime, thank you for your good wishes!

Hi @bayhorse, I am on bovine adrenal gland cortex and DHEA. I had most of the symptoms of low adrenal function along with low cortisol and DHEA levels upon saliva testing through the functional medicine doctor ( https://yourfibrodoctor.com/ ) Previously, through conventional doctors, I had a cortisol blood draw, but it wasn't low enough to dx adrenal insufficiency despite my debilitating symptoms.

Could you tell me a bit more about the neuroplasticity training program? Thank you!

Hi @bayhorse . I did The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS)
https://retrainingthebrain.com/

It's based on the idea that a part of the brain called the limbic system gets stuck in stress mode and the sympathetic nervous system kicks into high gear. It usually happens after some sort of stressor such as a virus, physical trauma, emotional trauma, adverse life event, surgery, etc.

When the brain does not get the "all clear" signal and wreaks havoc on various body systems.
Some end up with immune issues (recurrent viral infections like EBV, in my case), endocrine disturbances (thyroid, adrenal), anxiety, multiple sensitivities, digestive issues, and more.

Imagine an animal being chased by a predator. It will have an automatic stress response so it can run harder and faster. Once it escapes the danger, its parasympathetic nervous system kicks in and gives the body the all-clear signal so it can go back to normal functioning.

The DNRS program focuses on rewiring the limbic system to a restored state of calm and normal functioning. Simply put, it involves a type of meditation along with gentle movement, catching negative thought patterns and replacing them.

It was helpful for the debilitating fatigue and has been helpful in everyday life! You can find out more on the website.

Hi @rosa66
I don’t know much about the Gupta program, so I’m not able to give a comparison. Wishing you well in your journey.

Inspired Nutrition has an excellent enhaced monolaurin, which I was using along with (NOW) Lysine 500mg and (Swanson) Olive leaf extract 500mg, all three taken twice a day. I spaced everything out with a couple of hours between each supplement. Stopped post vax shortness of breath that had been present for 16 mos, appearing a couple of months after the Moderna vaccine 1. and lessened the degree of exhausting fatigue. Idon't think the brand of lysine and olive leaf matter, but the inspired nutrition Monolaurin worked better than two other brands 5 years earlier for treating shingles. The company has improved their Monolaurin formula since then, which I believe makes it superior to others. This protocol has helped others with EBV symptoms, and was passed on to me by a Mayo connect member. It may be wise to cotinue the Lysine long term paired with other plant antivirals on a long term basis because the EBV virus is so difficult to subdue. A good EBV resource is "Stuff that Works," an EBV support and research group. Wishing you success in your treatments and return to health.
