Has anyone's rhythm gotten worse on Metoprolol?

I hate reading the info on various drugs, your often damned if you take it and damned if you don't

Just to show how everyone is different, Metoprolol has worked wonderfully for me. I've cut my dosage from 25 mg to 12.5 mg a day, and daily baby aspirin to only one every other day. I get spontaneous palpatations almost every day, but never higher range than in the 130s BPM, and they stop spontaneously as well, or with some help from vegus maneuvers. Most last for less than 30 minutes. Oh, I'm an active 82yo male and Tai Chi instructor.

My wife is on metoprolol and has been for a few a year or so with a pulse field ablation to be done by Mayo over the next few months, but it is hard to tell if she is fatigued with little stamina because of her metoprolol, her heart or both.

@lb80 did you ever stop Tai Chi during your heart issues and if so, were you affected?

Can you tell me more about your vagus maneuvers? How do I find out how to do them?

I had been on metoprolol tartrate for years and always had a problem with arrhythmia. I have a Merlin monitor on my nightstand to send signals to my doctor of any serious events. But this year, my insurance took metoprolol tartrate off their formulary and replaced it with metoprolol succinate, which is a timed-release med. I was also placed on Entresto. Since then I have had no events at all. I am 78 yrs old with CKD Stage 4, CHF, and diabetes.

I took Metropolol for about 9 months. I was also taking Trazadone. My heart rate went down into the 40’s and 30’s. The cardiologist took me off both. In short, it didn’t help me.
We’re still determining the early morning SVT and its relationship to the CPAP.

See internet "vagus manuevers for arrhythems" or try "home remedies for arrhythems"

What works best for me:
A deep, forceful (fake) cough, or

1) Sit down, relax, inhale deeply for a count of 4
2) Hold you breath for a count of 7
3) Exhale to a count of 8
4) Repeat 4 times.

Good luck!
