Medication after having a stent 13 months ago?

My husband got a stent 13 months ago and we thought he could go off of Rovustatin finally.
Having an appointment (follow up) with his cardiologist, we were told that the Cholesterol and blood sugar lab results were borderline and he suggested to continue with the statin but add Zetia 10 mg and Ozempic 0,25 or 0,5 solution s.c.
The goal would be to get the results back in a good balance and get rid of the statin.
His Sonos looked not bad.
We are afraid of all these medications and side effects and could need some advice, thank you.

I have taken Rosuvastatin for some time and have not had any side effects. I had a stent about 2 years ago. I also Ezetimibe (Zetia) as well. Instead of Ozempic, I take Metformin.

Admittedly, my creatinine numbers are a little high these days. My nephrologist is not too concerned right now because we think it has more to do with fluid intake than anything else. I exercise A LOT, and do not replenish enough.

I do have tests done to monitor my results. So far, so good. My numbers have never been better. My advice is stick to the medications, but sure to be monitored. I eventually will be taken one or two in the future, but my physicians were of the opinion stick with it if you your results are very strong.

I believe it is critical to keep LDL low after a stent as the stent itself is prone to accumulate plaque. If the Rosuvastatin has unpleasant side effects, perhaps a different statin would be less problematic. If all statins are a problem, there are injectable cholesterol lowering drugs such as Praluent and Repatha.

I hope your husband stays well.
