I have been fighting Lymphocytic Cholitis for a long time and it is getting worse. I really need some advise on how to live with this.

Is it getting better now?
I just joined and am quite interested in the comments I’ve read so far, my problem is the fecal incontinence I experience, I currently use Lomotil, pin. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
It comes an goes, but as a rule I have loose bowel movements every morning, I’m a nurse, work in a doctors office so I usually don’t eat all day
@vickeyb - Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect!
As you can see from reading the posts there are many members with gastrointestinal problems. Even with the same diagnosis, an illness presents in different ways.
It is comforting for me to see I’m not alone - we learn from each other.
Have you had any testing done for your history of diarrhea and fecal incontinence? How old are you and do you have other health problems?
@stellawf - Hi! I’m just checking in to see how you are doing?
I am 74. I have dealt with IBS or so they thought for years. This all started with a bad case of bronchitis where I was put on antibiotics for weeks, that resulted in my getting c-diif with terrible diarrhea.
After that I have been experiencing acute colitis randomly. I have had a CT of the abdomen which showed a pancreatic cyst. I have had a US upper endoscopy where biopsy was done, the Gastro oncologist said we will just watch the cyst and do an MRI every 2 yrs
I was just at my Gastro’s office yesterday and we are increasing my Welchol to 2 tabs 2 times daily, also new blood work will be done, a VIP test for the pancreatic cyst
It just gets so discouraging!
It’s reassuring that the oncologist is following your pancreatic cyst.
Another question- did you have colonoscopies with the episodes of acute colitis?
I looked up Welchol to check on side effects- one is constipation!
My personal experience is years of IBS plus autoimmune colitis, then the reverse with chronic constipation and more recently some fecal incontinence- which I won’t tolerate. Had a recent colonoscopy- one of many through the years- and diagnosis chronic constipation. With this condition, loose stool runs outside the large amount of stool and causes loose stools and leakage. I have started taking Amitiza- there is improvement and less leakage. I still have to give it some time.
Do you think something like this could apply to you?
Diagnosed with Lymphocytic (microscopic) colitis. Causes and treatment? diet related?
Good morning @cgc57 I’m so sorry I didn’t see your posting until today. How long have you had this and how are you being treated? I’ve included a link to the Digestive Health group where i think you’ll find much more information. I’m also going to ask some other members @migizii and @pruittycat and @joanie45 , who have commented on lymphocytic colitis, to see if they can help.

How have you been able to manage the colitis so far?
I take Metamucil every day which helps, but I would like to know what causes this disorder so I could eliminate it.
