I had a Ct in December 2016,showed 3 nodules 6mm,5mm&4mm in right upper lobe! Last week I had a Ct bc of a different issue and ER Dr told me I had 1 nodule in my right upper lobe that was 8mm and subpleural and a tiny subleural nodule in my left lower lone and small scattered lymph nodes throughout the paratracheal region? What does this mean?Pulmononlogist called finally after a few weeks and finally radiology compared both Cts and was told I need Pet Scan which is next Tuesday. I feel frozen and numb! He said it was triangular in shape and something about right hiler? Gosh I can’t even think. Advice please

@pattymac

I was just looking@ online portal for the Pulmonologist I had just seen in Munster Indiana and my diagnosis he stated was:
1. Hilary mass
2. Mediastinal lymphadenopathy
Wtheck does that mean?

@pattymac, The doctor on the portal is most likely the doctor who read the tests. He does not interpret the results.
The person you need to speak to is the doctor who ordered this test for you. Only he can tell you what these results are as they apply to you.
Please be patient.

@pattymac, This is for him to answer. In my experience with a variety of clinics and doctors, I have found that some portals and summaries are…well, less complete or clear than others. So, talk to him. Unfortunately this is a weekend, and Monday is a long way off – but it will come. Hard as this sounds, “Do not dwell on it.”

We really do hear you. And we really do understand your frustrations. Keep in mind that most of us have been in your shoes. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Try to focus on the positive this weekend. Do something nice for somebody in need and get your mind off of your troubling thoughts.
Until Monday.
Rosemary.

@pattymac I have not posted before but have been following this discussion. I’m sorry you are going through a great deal right now. My fellow mentors, moderators and members have given you good advice.
It is so important to take care of yourself getting exercise and sleep as well as taking time for things you enjoy. Tell me about you. You say are getting ready to graduate in May. What are you studying? Do your children live nearby?

I’m earning my Associates of Science Degree and going on to an RN Program. Well at least that was my plan anyway. My kids are all over, married with families.
I’m much better with anyone else’s issues than my own at this point. I am just not happy with looking at that information in my chart online, when this is the only Dr that could of put it there bc the other Drs aren’t affiliated with this office? I’ve had my Grandaughters up here from Fort Campbell area and we went to movies tonight so a couple hours of not thinking about it. My kids all know and think it’s something that can be fixed? I’m just so over this stress!

@pattymac Hi Patty: I’m glad that you had a break by going to the movies with your granddaughters! That was the best prescription for you. We all need a break from our problems, but it’s not always easy to do. By the way, you can get test results from your other doctors just by asking. Even if they don’t have a way to do it online, they can mail you a copy. Best wishes as you wait for your next test. We are still pulling for you. Teresa

@pattymac Posting a question on your patient portal is a great idea that @colleenyoung suggested. You can even do that on a weekend and the doctor can respond when he returns to the office. None of us are able to give you answers to your medical problems, just suggestions on how to cope with the unknown and we can do this because we have been where you are. Blessings, Teresa

I have a 10 month Old grandson that is the joy of my life. I don’t dwell on things that i will miss, like his graduation from high school any many other milestones in his life. My wife and I babysit him two days a week and he has developed a strong bond with both of us.. i try to enjoy the times together now and enjoy spending time with him. I can only do things that might hell me live longer but i really don’t have any control over where IPF will take me in the future. Please try to concentrate on teethings you can enjoy with your family and you will be much happier

I able to pay it forward before I’m called home. I’m not saying I won’t have a possible bump in the road ahead but I have to let go of what I can’t control too.

Terri – this is Pamela. I just read your post mentioning sleep apnea. My IFD doctor suggested I get a test for sleep apnea as he feels I may have this and may be part of the reason I wake up in the middle of the night in Idaho (5,600 feet) and cannot breathe. I take my rescue inhaler and am ok in about 30 minutes. It does not happen to me here in Boston, at sea level. I have both MAC and bronchiectasis, and am 67. I was told if I do have sleep apnea I will have to wear the device at night. Do you wear this device now? It sounds awful! I was also told that sleep apnea does damage to the heart, causing congestive heart failure over time. Anything you can share about your sleep apnea would be useful – thank you! Pamela

Hi Ray:
I had an opportunity to attend a 6 month research study with Dr Amit Sood, at the end of the 6 month study we gave a report.
Mine was the “Silver Lining of Lung Cancer”… I realized lung cancer has become my blessing.
When I was diagnosed with lung cancer, I was rushed into surgery within 48 hours. The shock was unbelievable to me and everyone
who knows me…that was 9 years and 3 months ago (but who’s counting, right?)

I have come to learn, attitude is more than 50% of “Beating the Odds” besides eating healthy and exercising – I have pushed the boundaries on exercise…but it makes me breath better!

After left lung VATS Surgery where my lung was removed with a 3cm tumor and some pulmonary fibrosis…it was thought my chances were 15%/85% You know what that means right? 15% chance of beating lung cancer! I am a Never Smoker to boot!

I have been blessed to really appreciate and am grateful for each and every day. I never dreamed I would live to see our daughter deliver a baby boy that is now on skis at age 6 years. Or did I know I would live to see our youngest son, marry and have a baby boy who is now 18 months old and they are expecting our granddaughter.

You know the joy! I have read your fun journey as grandparents. Nothing quiet like being grandparents right?

We never know what around the corner, has become my favorite saying. So, I hope you will continue to enjoy each day.

Take care, and thanks for sharing on Connect! Isn’t it a great community, lead by an amazing woman!
