I had a Ct in December 2016,showed 3 nodules 6mm,5mm&4mm in right upper lobe! Last week I had a Ct bc of a different issue and ER Dr told me I had 1 nodule in my right upper lobe that was 8mm and subpleural and a tiny subleural nodule in my left lower lone and small scattered lymph nodes throughout the paratracheal region? What does this mean?Pulmononlogist called finally after a few weeks and finally radiology compared both Cts and was told I need Pet Scan which is next Tuesday. I feel frozen and numb! He said it was triangular in shape and something about right hiler? Gosh I can't even think. Advice please

I just read these posts by all of you and like PattyMac I have been told that I have a nodule on right side of lung. Dr said CT scan did not say scar tissue but not sure what? Going for second CT scan in 6 weeks. Is that too long to wait for second scan/ I am scared. Take care of my husband & his illness & I am a worry wart also. Went to host 2 weeks ago because Dr thought I might have pneumonia. X ray show '''''not pneumonia but bronchitis & showed a small nodule on right side, I think from all advice here< I need to see pulmonologist. You all are GREAt & thanks for helping me.

@shirleygirl One of the things you need to be aware of is pulmonary amyloidosis. Look at the stuff from Alnylam.com, MayoClinic.org, and amyloidosis.org about amyloidosis. There is a lot in there about nodules and pulmonary amyloidosis. I have many nodules in both lungs, plus a bunch of other stuff. My SERUM Free Lite Chain and urine protein output are both way out of reference range, which is the primary witness for amyloidosis. You can look at my whole scenario at https://bit.Ly/1w7j4j8 Look at Amyloidosis.

Hi Shirleygirl & Welcome to Connect!
I am a 10 year lung cancer survivor...and I never smoked!

For two years I was told, by my local general practice physicians, I was fine and perhaps my cough was psychological ! I looked good but sounded terrible.

Fortunately on a physical at Mayo Clinic where doctors listened to me, my diagnosis of lung cancer along with their professional care, saved my life.
It was then I learned a lot about my lungs and lung cancer.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of proper diagnosis and proper treatment.

I recently had my CT scan follow up at Mayo Clinic. My Mayo “Team” have helped me sleep at night because I know I am receiving the best and most accurate medical advice because they specialize and share any findings about my lungs. I know I am receiving the best care in the world.

Furthermore, my doctors and specialist take time to explain what they see on my CT and in my lungs.
I personally feel better knowing I and my lungs are being so well looked after!

Ask your doctors questions, it’s your body and you know it best! Lung disease can be scary, but having experienced teams that we know and trust, helps add years to a better Quality of Life!

Thanks for sharing on Connect, we hope to hear more. Have you checked out the great videos about Lung Heakth and Lungs Cancer on Mayo Clinic web sites? There is so much great news available, I continue to learn everyday!

Hello @shirleygirl

I see this your first post on Mayo Connect and I would like to welcome you. I am glad to see that you have been helped by reading the posts of @pattymac and others in this discussion group.

Your decision to seek the opinion of a pulmonologist sounds like a good next step. One thing that we encourage here at Mayo Connect is the importance of being our own patient advocate, educating ourselves about our disorders and always seeking more than one medical opinion.

@shirleygirl, will you please keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing? We look forward to hearing from you again.

Ive been working alot and taking care of my Grandaughter who just turned 1 on the 21st.We just went through a cancer scare with her and not ot of woods yet it seems. They cant figure out why her platlets go from one extreme to the other but Labs and Dr said No Leukimia.I am going for a second vocal cord injection on the 4th of December.I sure hope I am doing the right thing. The ENT in Indy wants me to get the implant but he also mentioned my deductable which just turned me off from wanting an implant! My 3D yearly mammogram came back abnormal and I am havinng an ultrasound and another mammogram for that side on Thursday. So I am worried again!Always something! My histoplasmosis is still there and my refill wasnt authorized so I dont know what to do now.Other than that I am fine and we all went through stomach flu already and thats when baby started having problems with platlets.

Hello Patty @pattymac

It is good to hear from you. You have been busy as well as dealing with a lot of health issues in your family! I'm sorry to hear of your granddaughter's platelet problems, I'm sure that is disconcerting not to know why she is having the changes in the platelet counts.

I am sure you are looking forward to getting the second mammogram and ultrasound behind you. I had the same thing happen this year, but everything came out fine and I'm hoping you have good results as well.

I can understand your reluctance to go through the implant surgery if it is very costly, it can be quite successful though. The injection will offer you some temporary relief, though. How long did you experience relief after your first injection?

Do you know why your refill wasn't authorized? Hmmm - I'd check on that if I were you. Sometimes you have to persist with insurance companies in order to get the benefits you need.

Take care and keep in touch with us,

Teresa

Hello, I am happy that my mammogram came back fine thank goodness. My Granddaughter numbers are up for now and Im so happy because that is just awful to see her go through. The fungus meds weren't an issue with the insurance company, it was the Infectious Disease Dr. that didn't have any refills on it and she is now in India for 3 or 4 months? I have to be monitored with blood work which she has only done 1 time and I am so mad at her about this because I have to make sure it doesn't affect my liver and kidneys.I finally got a return call from her office person and she said she can have the meds refilled and after I told her I need to have blood work on a regular basis to monitor she said I can have an appt in Feb! Then later she said that a Dr is seeing her patients if I want to see him.Well I think I need a Dr that is better with her patients? So this time I will look outside this Franciscan network! As far as my vocal cord injections, I dont know what to do bc I had my first one on Oct 4th and its worn off already.Insurance will pay for the implant ,its me who doesn't want it bc I still hope my voice will come back on its own but I am concerned. Anyway thanks for always responding.Merry Christmas

I'm so happy for you that your mammogram results came back good - that is a relief. Also, I'm glad to hear that your granddaughter is doing better - it is so hard when children are ill.

It is frustrating when doctors get so busy, isn't it? Have you checked with your primary care doc to see if he/she can help with some of the blood work that you need? That might be an option.

I can understand your wanting to wait on your voice to come back before considering the implant. How long ago did you lose your voice? Do doctors say it is possible that your voice may return? What is the diagnosis that they gave to the vocal cord impairment?

All of these questions will help to determine the possibility of your voice returning to normal in the future.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas and a happy 2018!

@pattymac, I saw my friend who had histoplasmosis several years ago. We did not talk about it, but he is doing great, and as active as ever. I hope that you get the medicine and the labs that you need, soon.
I want to share one idea that worked for me with special medications. I used to let my pharmacist, or doctor, know in advance that I was running low, That way they were sure to have it available for me without any delay.

Merry Christmas,
Rosemary

I am @ my sons house using his internet:) Also taking care of baby and big brother.Anyway, I had appts with a few Drs for followups and I am tired of seeing Drs! My pulmonologist told me that yes the nodules are a tiny bit larger(not much in his opinion) however that the rest of the CT Scan is now clear so he thinks I should just wait a few months and not take any fungus medicine and in July we can do another CT Scan and go from there? He also had me do a lung function test and although he said it was ok,but I was in the low side of 83% so maybe I should keep taking off the weight and retake test.Ive lost almost 30 pounds this year but its slow. I did tell him I am so tired of all these Drs and he didn't blame me at all.My Internist agrees but he does tend to go with the flow.I did not make the Ent Surgeon in Indy to have another vocal cord implant partly bc we got snow that day and I didn't want to be caught up in it on way back home and also bc I have had my pulmonoligist tell me the vocal cord has nothing to do with me feeling tired so just wait? I went to my Cardiologist(he did my original treadmill stress test so I like him and he now takes care of my blood pressure meds) Anyway he wants to do another treadmill test to see if any change(hes not pushing it,only suggests. He also thinks I should have a cpap machine at least try it and see if it helps.I had a home sleep study earlier this year and was told I needed one but I refused it!I start back to school this semester coming up and looking for a job too.I need to make a steady income and not just uber money! Sometimes I think I should forget about anymore college and just find a descent job! I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and a Blessed 2018!
