Low dose of lyrica for chronic pain from nervous system dysfunction

Posted by bealillie @bealillie, Dec 17, 2025

I have seen many doctors for what has become chronic full body pain (and nerve pain swelling in feet and legs from initial ankle tendinitis)-st this point the only new medical issue are highly abnormal liver enzyme tests. This means that I need to stop taking Tylenol which is the only thing that helps pain.

Apart from getting liver checked, the doctor would like to prescribe low dose 25 mg Lyrica , which I’ve not reacted well to in the past.
I am very med sensitive take only LDN which has yet to help at all
Looking for feedback on tolerance and side effects of Lyrica, eg sedative effect and weight gain both of which I don’t need ! But if it helps…
Thanks

I am not having any negative side effects so I am just working with managing my symptoms at this point! I have a spiked issue with my spine issues that just popped up - as those of us with chronic issues know how that works. So all hands on deck right now with PT, heat, Tylenol etc in addition to the lyrica. It isn't a cure all but it keeps the underlying base pain from a 6 to a 3. But I still have to work around this additional issue a bit. If that makes any sense.

@szucker99 Could you explain the “spiked issue” that has just turned up?

@jackiet ugh yes. Here are the lovely words on my MRI. Anterolisthesis L5 on S1, L4/L5 arthropathy with disc bulge and neuroforaminal narrowing. trace anterolisthesthesis and of course degenerative disc disease and bone edema. So this is on going and due to my knee issue I walk funny. When my knee issues particularly bad all of this gets out of alignment and the entire thing goes hay wire. Lovely.

@cperlin
Thanks for the information on alternative treatments for PN. I am sure many of these have been tried.

Do you know of any statistics on the use of Pregabaline and its effect on humans? Scientific data?

How come only women have all these problems?

I take PreGabalin 75mg 3 x per day. Only side effect is ED. Would be really hard on your credit card without insurance.

@bajjerfan I get 75 mg 2x day through GoodRx (cheaper than insurance) for $23/ month. Not too bad really
