Looking for success stories for Uveal Melanoma Metastasizing to liver?

Posted by Marlene Eckert @me1229, Aug 4 2:29pm

I was diagnosed with OcularUveal Melanoma in 2023I had successful radiation treatment. My recent scan of the abdomen shows 8 highly suspicious lesions in my liver yet none are big enough to biopsy. My next scan is 8/9 and I see an oncologist 8/12. I also have a 2nd opinion scheduled at MD Anderson in Jacksonville, Florida, my hometown. I am trying to remain positive that I can beat this. I have changed my diet to reduce all sugar, trying to eat very healthy, walking, and trying to reduce stress. I have 2 books, one I just finished titled How to Starve Cancer and another The Metabolic Approach to Treating Cancer. Anyone out there with advice or success stories they can share with me? Do’s and Don’ts ?

Hi Marlene, I’m the sszantay, Sue, mentioned above. I believe you are doing everything you can to ward off “cancer”. What we’ve been told most of our lives, “what we put into our bodies will decide how well our body takes care of Us”. I can only speak for myself but I’m not all in on that saying. I don’t think we did anything wrong to get uveal melanoma.
I believe it’s ok to be a “sponge”…..use, talk, share whatever you need to get through the tuff times. I personally think the word “ Suspicious” scares everyone but I’ve found that others who have this word in their scans comes back just fine. Don’t assume the worst until it hits you in the face. Go out with friends, family etc and laugh & enjoy because today you don’t have liver “c” .
Your in my prayers!

Thank you so much for your encouraging note. I have a great family and close friends support group. The amount of diet information is overwhelming. I’m taking some baby steps now to have an eat healthy, which I should have done years ago. I am keeping a positive attitude but sometimes slip but your note made me happy today. God bless you and Thanks again.

Great news, the scan reveals the lesions remain stable. I’m thankful that it shows no growth, still 8 lesions with max size 5mm. Thanks for asking.

Good advice from @sszantay
Enjoy every day and build resilience for anything that might come up. Do exercise regularly, stay hydrated, eat healthily and reduce exposure to harmful toxins. Try and reduce stress and get good sleep. Your chances of navigating this successfully is much improved by taking excellent care of yourself. That goes for every one of us regardless whether we are dealing with cancer or not. Read “Outlive” and you’ll learn a lot about how disease takes root from an oncologist who has become tired of dispensing medicines and treatment protocols for existing conditions and is proposing ways for us to avoid or address conditions at an early stage. What you do every day can have an impact but by the same token, don’t obsess over it. Enjoy life and embrace every moment. You will prevail.
