Long COVID and gluten sensitivity
So we got COVID twice within just about 5 months. The first time was bad. The second we were mostly asymptomatic. Since the second infection my 8 year old has gotten terrible stomach cramps every time she ate. Finally got her pulled off gluten, and since then only a few issues, and they were with heavy lactose foods, which we went ahead and cut as well. All fine since then.
Has anyone else had the same issue? Are you still going through it? Have your symptoms lessened at all? We're still waiting to see GI, the waiting time is so long. And her Dr has been helping as much as she can, but we just don't know what to expect anymore. This has been going on since January 22 for reference on time.

In my case they did the blood test (that was available many years ago) but was necessary to follow up with an endoscopy to verify there was no error and also to estimate the damage.
the dairy thing comes and goes for me. i do best with goat cheese.
i take not eating wheat, rye, barley and oats very seriously. quinoa is also bad but probably for other reasons i don’t know about. i take digestive enzymes occasionally. i have been off gluten for 30 years now. like most, it was a rocky road to get to that point.
hope your girl feels better quickly. make sure she gets a lot of protein and enough B12.
I agree about the dairy. I deduced that if I'm totally off dairy for many months or a year, I am OK to have a small amount of cheese or other. I do like goat cheese and in a pinch I get a GF cheese substitute. It's pricy with no food value, but once in a rare while it's worth it.
I don't react to oats. It's a different gluten that many Celiacs react to. I get Bobs organic, GF oats. What GF digestive enzyme do u take? It's been a long time since I checked and there weren't any since then.
I am the girl.
i like pancreatin (not plant source) or Now super enzymes.
hard to live without dairy. the substitute isn’t very good.
i have found i am good with dairy for about 6 months at a time.
since i have been on antihistamines H1 and H2, it feels like my body is handling dairy better, but too soon to be sure.
