Has anyone had Left temporal lobectomy ? What were side effects after procedure and long term?

Hi, @csue - I'm tagging a few members who have had similar, though not exactly the same, types of lobectomies so they can share their experiences and side effects short and long-term: @lady35 @jemollica @hendglenn2000. I'd also love for you to meet @santosha and @jakedduck1.

Have you had a lobectomy at this point, csue, or has one been recommended?

Thank you for your support. No I have not had a lobectomy. I had a LITT about 6 yrs ago , did fine but have started back with seizures.
Thanks again for all support.

@csue1 - did you see a difference in your seizure activity after the laser interstitial thermal therapy (LiTT)?

What are your seizures like now?

Are you and/or your epileptologist considering a left temporal lobe lobectomy for you in the future?

I had left temporal lobe surgery in 2013. I haven't had a tonic clonic since the day before my surgery. I had one focal aware seizure while I was sick with Covid & pneumonia in 2021. I do have some memory problems but it got better with time. Right after my surgery I had problems finding my words but that improved with time too. I have what they call focal cerebral dysfunction over the left mid posterior. I get these feelings over the left side of my brain sometimes that feel like the feeling you get when you move after a part of your body that falls asleep. That odd tingling feeling that you get is the only way I can describe it. I hope that makes sense. It lasts a few seconds but I am aware during it. My Dr once told me that it's those areas of my brain that have been disconnected & they are trying to find each other to cause a seizure. I hope this helps you.
