Kidney Transplant: Does your creatinine bounce around?
Hi all,
I am a post kidney transplant patient. My creatinine has been pretty reliable and steady. In August, five months ago, I was diagnosed with BK virus and my immune suppression was reduced. I am taking 250mg bid Mycophenolate and 6mg Envarsus XR (Tacrolimis). Currently, I do not take Prednisone. My last labs showed an increase of creatinine and a lower GFR. Has anyone experienced something like this?

@kfn57 - I want to welcome you to Connect. I see that this is your first post, and I want to ask you when you had your kidney transplant?
For some patients, there can be variations until the body and medications and new kidney are adjusted. It could also be dependent on a patients pre transplant condition. My transplant was too long ago (2009) for me to remember these specific details .
I am happy that members like @hello1234, @l0lag0lag0b3, @roxanne12345 have more recent experiences with variations with creatinine levels to share with you.

June 19 will be four years post transplant.
Hi @kfn57 😊
It's so nice to meet you! Congrats on your fourth year transplant anniversary! I am approaching my three year anniversary. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with varying creatinine levels. I am happy to hear that increasing your water drinking has been helpful. In your 4 years, did you experience any infections or mild rejection episodes? I had CMV, and now I have BK virus so any increase in creatinine always stresses me out.... It's nice to know that sometimes it's as easy to fix by drinking more!
I am not good with water and I will let you in a couple days how increasing hopefully helped. Tomorrow is my monthly infusion of one of my anti rejection meds.
No I have not had any rejection experiences. I have experienced infections one being cdif. That was a tough one.
@kfn57
Yes, C-diff is very tough. I never had C-diff but my girlfriend developed it after surgery. It took a very long time to recover. Was that your experience too? Did you develop C-diff after surgery too?
After an antibiotic was given.
hi, im posting for the first time here for concern of our son (32yrs old) who had a tranplant 4 months ago. Living donor from his dad.
his challenge is low WBC. it is 2.8. neutrophil 1.97. he had the gastrohil injections ( 6 injections) they raise the wbc for a week but then back down. also his creatinine is high 181 and eGFR 47. he is taking myfortic 180 and tac 7. no predisone. and taking atovquone. he also had a very slight increase in cmv ... just at 35 last week. we dont know what to do further to get him to start living "normal" becasue of the low WBC. still quarantining, working from home. he had a biopsy about a month ago and all seemed good. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
sorry... forgot to mention... it was a kidney tranplant.
thanks.
