@quaddick
thanks are your sets ten reps for ten seconds each ? and then two sets of quick ones?
@edinmaryland
They were 5 reps of 60 seconds each followed by 15 quick ones. That's what I did to get me to full continence. I was there before surgery, but of course I had to go easy immediately after surgery, and gradually work my way back to it.
I think I need to connect with someone who is a year and half out and can help with some fine-tuning.
I am doing so much better than last year but have minor leaks late in the day and then when I do something medium strenuous I really think that for a while I was over- exerting and do not want to do high intensity Kegels or too many ( I know I can get to a place of doing them all the time thinking this is going to make things better sooner but it keeps backfiring) ( in fact my PT warned me against them (' no straining, no more ten or fifteen seconds tops') I am no longer seeing the PT ( insurance would not pay and she is not too close to where I live) and think I need to find a better balance between dong Kegels and also letting my pelvic floor muscles relax..
I know about a week ago they were on fire sore and I had correspondingly more problems so now after a year or so I am still learning ( I always have been a slow learner)
@edinmaryland You are correct. There is more to Kegels than we were told initially post- surgery, etc. Pelvic Floor therapy and learning how our pelvic floor works is usually more effective.
Thanks
I know (at least believe) that doing Kegels helps ( research supports this)
However I wonder what would happen if I did not do Kegels/ Would this just delay things?
In other words, would we likely learn new ways to strengthen our pelvic floor muscle less intentionally perhaps. I am really in a backing off stage right now ( maybe on e set a day and even skipping a day here and there thanks Waldo
