Is Zytiga 250mg 4daily+1prednisone prostate cancer

Posted by chebo1954 @chebo1954, Jul 21 5:43pm

I’m being treated by oral 4 250mg + 1 5mg prednisone daily all in 1 dose for stage 4 prostate cancer. Although it has achieved a desired PSA it appears by my research that this regimen significantly reduced my life span + I also have 4 lung cancer since 2016 but Optivo put in remission in 2018-there is more but I’d like to start there

I think she meant 1000 mg a day, not 100. The Zytiga tablets only come in 250mg as far as I know.

Oh, well that’s a different story as I am also taking 1,000mg per day plus 1 5mg prednisone daily, but I’m experiencing the wrath of this medication which does not affect everyone the same way.

Get your hubby on a low fat diet breakfast and take only one Arbiterone with it daily. 250 mg. Was fine for me and kept PSA < .01 for two years/ recommended per my MO.

Wow, I’m taking 4 a day, do you think that just taking 1 tad per day would work for me? God, I really hope that’s what you meant- could be a life saver for me.

My husband takes 4 tablets of Zytiga a day each tab is 250 mg so 1000 mg a day. I was just sharing that outside of swollen ankles he has had no problem and certainly no Afib. Every person reacts to these drugs differently. We have been lucky that Doug has not done poorly on the drugs. So sorry for your suffering.

Thank you you’ve been most kind and understanding and I wish only the best for Doug and your family. I’d misinterpreted your message that turns out to be a typo- it said 100mg per day, and I’m sorry as I should have realized that because I’ve been recently informed that the lowest dose is 250mg.

Ps- the swelling in Doug’s ankles is edema, a build up fluids fluids pooling up in his ankle area- a suggestion for this condition is to rest on his back and make sure that his legs are propped up well above his heart- he is suffering from that but I suspect that he is a very brave man that would not complain as to not worry you. And I believe you! I am so grateful for your insight and knowledge on this topic- it’s only bad part is that I ate a sausage biscuit with cheese for breakfast but there’s always tomorrow morning I hope. Bless your heart and live long and prosper

Although I am not on this dosage, My Doc at the U of C has mentioned this as a possibility as well. Introducing myself to this group. I was diagnosed last fall with stage 4 metastatic PC. after 6 rounds of chemo and taking Abiraterone and Prednisone. My PSA has dropped to 0.75 from 96. Other than the muscle loss, early to bed and general achiness, I think I am faring well so far. Hoping to see my PSA continue to drop. Continue to live every day!! Good Luck to everyone here. It's nice to find a support group.
