is it ok to fly with 4.6 Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm

I am a 72 year old women from Australia, just been diagnosed with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm , after having a CT for sciatica they discovered the AAA 4.6cm, I was sent to a vascular surgeon who was very young and he told me how sorry he was to have to tell me this, I had never heard of it and it took me a couple of weeks to absorb what was said, im staying positive and carrying on with life watching my blood pressure, I was wondering if it was ok to fly or go on my cruise I had booked, or is it too risky?

I noticed this is your first post to Mayo Connect, welcome. Everyone wants to continue to enjoy life no matter what their medical condition is. But, everyone's situation is different. I suggested you ask your provider that question and if OK to travel, what suggestion do they have.

I have a large calcified aneurysm in my carotid artery. Was first diagnosed 6 years ago. At first I was afraid to do anything, but my provider has reassured me it is OK to travel.

The question has been asked before. If you want to read others comments, you can search the Aortic Aneurysms group for word "fly".
