Is a 4,1 AAA something to worry about.

I was diagnosed with a Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in 2020, and it has been getting larger each year. I am now as of today at a 4.1, and do you usually just have it monitored till it gets bigger. I am female and just turned 78 years old.

I’m sorry it took me awhile to get back to you. Maybe I did and don’t remember lol. In any event, the surgery to repair an abdominal aortic aneurysm can be a risky surgery. There are two options, 1)open procedure which is basically abdominal surgery and has more risks and longer recovery or 2)EVAR procedure, a minimally invasive surgery done through the groin and then a stent placed. Shorter procedure and recovery. My husband had EVAR surgery and was discharged the following day. Went in this week for the hospital follow up with the surgeon, had a CT scan and everything is fine, no endoleaks or migration. I hope my answer helps. Good luck to you.

afternoon thank you , I am in just the early stages of this procress , have to wait 3 months before I see the surgeon , monitor currently be done by my primary ,
my main concern MRI in May /25 showed normal , MRI in Nov/25 ( a period of 6 months) shows a 3.cc - to me this appears to be a rapid growth

@colonel0808 Hi: I just saw this post, and I was also told it is a slow growth. I started with a 2.0 Cent in 2020, and now it was thought I had a 4.1, but it turned out to be a 4.9 as of this month. I am still being told to have it checked every 6 months. I was also told not to do any lifting, and to keep the blood pressure down. I guess we just have to keep monitoring, and let our doctors follow through on the next step.

evening, just saw your comments, thanks for reply , new to all of this, , you have a 5 year growth pattern from 2.0 to 4.9 , I have a 6 months pattern starting in o5/25 at normal to a growth of 3.0 in Nov/25, which belives me to state, mine is more aggressive than yours, my primary is monitoring me , so I will have to wait and see how this thing grows within the next 3 months which is when I see the surgeron , susrgeons are only interstes if the growth is more than 5.0

best, of theupcoming holidays to you and yours

best, colonel
