irregular heart rate!

Posted by bobbelu @bobbelu, 4 days ago

when taking my BP, I sometimes get the reading of "irregular heart rate". Even one glass of wine seems to trigger this. I'm 82 female and pretty healthy. on BP , 2x day and metro 1x, atorvastate 1x. I went for a month without any alcohol and had no problems but when I had one glass of wine, I woke up in the night with irregular heart rate. Feels like butterflys in my chest. Anybody else have this issue? wondering if its a valve issue.

@bobbelu

thanks for the reply...That's what I figured would be the solution...just makes going out with friends somewhat boring!!!

If you have to drink to make their company not boring, maybe find some friends that are not boring and do not drink.

So much appreciate your thoughts and comments. You don’t know what a blessing your knowledge has been to me as a Newby with Heart Disease. Thank you so much!

Looking at this comment again, I believe you’re on to something. Red Wine affects me more that Bourbon or Scotch even though alcohol content is more. I’m gonna check the the magnesium as well with either Cardiologist or Primary who takes blood 2X a year. Thanks so much.

I take fleccanide twice a day for my a fib. It works fine. However, a few weeks ago I drank slightly more alcohol than usual. The a fib came back and lasted all night. It went away the next morning. I’m now very careful about how much alcohol I drink. It definitely caused atrial fibrillation for me.

My experience has led me to eliminate alcohol from my diet/lifestyle altogether and in 60+ days not a single sign of Afib.

I’m moving in that direction, i.e. no alcohol at all.
