Insurance to cover modulator

Posted by helen1000 @helen1000, Feb 11 10:58am

Hey guys,
I may start using modulator Aflytrek in April. Considering it is super expensive drug, is there any other options to cover it except my current private insurance? Is there any financial assistance option to help us?

Thanks,
Helen

Helen, when I started on Trikafta, I applied for and got assistance from two different organizations: Healthwell and the Patient Advocate Foundation for Co-Pay Relief. There is also The Assistance Fund. All of these provide assistance to cover medication costs based on income and need. Their funding ability sometimes fluctuates based on their own finances, but it's worth looking into. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation can also help point you in some helpful directions.

@ckscoville Thanks a lot for this information! I know that I am able to afford this drug at this point. But I am concerned for the future when I don't have a private insurance. Do you mean that some organizations can help us so we don't have to worry about the cost when we don't have a private insurance?

I see gene editing technology is developing quicky. It is possible that within 5 years, we can " cure" this disease!

By the way, I am not approved for Aflytrek, but possibly approved for Trikafta.
