My insurance won't pay for Mayo. Has anybody had experience with the University of Iowa?

@ling123 If you have mucus problems of any sort, be sure your doc checks your Eosinophil quantity frequently, and occasional does an upper esophageal scan for Barrett's, et.

@oldkarl I have had my esophagus scanned last year. They didn't find anything abnormal. They did not check eosinophil quantity. But since I have had the same problem for 10+ years, wouldn't any problem have manifested itself by now? My lungs are scarred from being exposed to TB bacteria in my childhood, although I never developed TB. I believe my bronchiectasis is the result of that exposure. I'm otherwise very healthy.

@ling123 About the problem being there 10 years. That means little. Only that the little details that would eventually show what the problem is has not yet come to the clear. 10 years ago my endoscopy came out clear. Now the esophagus may have to be replaced if I live long enough. Only the eosinophil values might have shown it 10 years ago. They did not. My brother in law has the same issue. They are now debating if it is worth it to cut and paste now, wait a year, or just forget it.

@heathert I have also had that. When I use my Aerobika I usually have clear sputum. But there are times there are little specs of yellow. I too, wondered if it was anything but my Dr was unconcerned when I mentioned it.

@oldkarl Really appreciate all your advise and concern. My philosophy is not looking for trouble when there is no evidence of one. If something suspicious shows up later on, I will deal with it as it comes. For now, I feel very healthy despite the problem with excess mucus. No trouble with breathing or lack of energy. Just came back from playing tennis for 1.5 hours and will be playing again tomorrow. Next week my husband and I are traveling to the Grand Teton National Park to do some hiking, which we have been doing for the past 7-8 years. For now, life is good. No time to dwell on bronchiectasis or MAC. They will have to wait.

@ginak thanks for that, nice to know your Dr isn't concerned. Its so weird, wonder what causes it. I will ask my Dr also if she knows what it is.
