Seeking input on Portable Oxygen Concentrators
I have pulmonary fibrosis which has progressed in the past few months and I am trialling portable oxygen concentrators. Currently Imogen G 5 whch I find is too heavy to carry and there is litle difference in my breathing, My specialist specified pulse 2LPM pulse equivalent to setting 4 depending on the model. The Imogen G 5 states 1260ml pulse setting 4 so am I not getting enough oxygen with this?
We dont have showrooms where you can go, try before you buy here in Melbourne - all the companies seem to be on line so that's where you obtain advice.
I am looking for input on what others have found to be the most reliable portable concentrators - I am considering the GCEZeno whch I can wheel around in a cart.
I read the daily news on Mayo and its helped me a lot over the past year.
So thank you all,
Liz

I really like the Phillips products I find that they’re the best and most reliable. I found the sales people on the Imogen incredibly aggressive. They just won’t go away. They wanted me to buy my own. They didn’t want me to use my insurance. I find that I don’t give these places My phone number just my email and not a good email like an email that I don’t use very much. But I really like the Phillips ones. They’ve been the most reliable for everything including the home. Concentrate of their free refurbished Philips. Hope that helps.

2 ReactionsI am also interested in the portable concentrators. I will be following this thread. The Inogen folks are pushy and a different associate calls each time. My husband needs the higher O2 concentration and finds the weight of the Gen5 too heavy and throws off his balance. I will look into Phillips.
Thanks!
Hi Liz,
I'm sorry that you are having health problems and need oxygen. That's too bad. My husband had lung cancer and also had to have oxygen. He died in 2024. We found an oxygen machine from Medirelax. It was very good and came with a light weight portable oxygen machine. You may be able to buy the portable one separately. If you look it up online look up "Medirelax Oxygen Concentrator" to get you to the right one. Just looking up Medirelax gets confusing results.
Both my husband and my mother had to have oxygen and I took care of them. I discovered that if you feel like there is no air coming through your canelas put them in a glass of water. It will bubble if there is air coming through them. Also save some of your old oxygen tubing in case the tubing on your machine gets a small pin hole and stops working. These kinds of things always happen at an inconvenient time. So, it's good to have a reliable back up tubing handy.
I hope you find the kind of portable oxygen machine that you are looking for.
I wish you the best.
