I’m being interviewed by NBC Chicago on long Covid this week. Help
NBC Chicago is doing some segments recognizing the five year “anniversary” of Covid. One segment is on long Covid. The Principal Director of the RECOVER studies Dr. Nirav Shah will speak of his research and I was asked to be interviewed as a participant.
I’m going and will publicly disclose my medical issues to bring awareness to long covid. Are there short comments I should consider mentioning about life with long Covid?
They will probably edit it down to fit their story, but I’d like to answer questions with all your long Covid experiences in mind.
I speak again with the PR person tomorrow for more info.
Thanks.

My long COVID is exacerbated by the flu...it is going around our area. I sleep so much, have phantom sounds, vision, I itch and get muscle twitching. This happens when a bout is coming triggered by PEM, extreme weather and flu etc.
I am very discouraged because no doctor knows what to do.
I have had Long COVID for about three and a half years.
Finally, I have tried ivermectin, nicotine patches, Vitamin C & Arginine and Kratom to no avail.
Thank you,
Catherine
Yes, I agree with you. I too will never get another vaccination of any kind. My life started to end when I got the jab over 2 years ago and I'm getting worse every day.
Yes, since 2020 here as well.
I worked for local city Fire Department in the Chief’s office. Considered essential staff and exposed to all the comings and goings of the first responders. Had to leave my job in 2021 due to fainting on the job. …extreme exhaustion, PEM, POTS, dizziness, migraines, vision changes, etc. I live alone and rarely leave my home as I can not drive anymore. The vaccines in 2021 made me so much worse. Now left with no friends or family to help. I agree, it feels like we’ve been forgotten about.
I caught Covid in August of 2022. I was able to finish second in a 5k in September 2022. By early November 2022, I could not run the whole 5k but had to walk a substantial portion of it. So, I would say that I developed long Covid during that period. After that 5k attempt in November, I was diagnosed with COPD. My family members reacted with extreme skepticism as I am a dedicated runner, never smoked, and had no other known risk factors for COPD. I entered a cardio-pulmonary rehab program and developed Post Exertional Malaise on a weekly basis. This program, where the therapists were not familiar with pacing, worsened my condition. In the meantime, the doctor who had diagnosed me with COPD, began to agree that long Covid might be a better explanation for my symptoms. Since Mayo Clinic started a long Covid clinic, I enrolled in it, and they helped me manage my symptoms better. I tried to find a sustainable pace, but getting up to preach on Sundays was worsening my symptoms. When I discovered that, I retired.
I suspect that my congregation was smaller than yours and placed less demands on me. With the lower workload, I had an increased capacity to focus and was able to concentrate on my sermons. Whenever the demands of my work became excessive, like a lengthy Synod meeting, I could no longer retain three sentences worth of ideas.
I understand that people who caught Covid earlier frequently have more severe symptoms than people who caught a later variant. In my case, I lost my wife to ALS the year before I caught Covid, I had a severe case of mononucleosis when I was a sophomore in college, and I did not know about pacing until it was too late. I suspect that if any of those things had not happened, I would not have long Covid or the symptoms would have been less severe.
Search for this article from PubMed. It breaks down the adverse effects by vaccine manufacturer. You may find it very helpful.

Have thi nicotine or vitamin c , or kratom helped?
No....not at all.
I live in Chicago as well if you would like to talk
Living with excessive mucus everyday. I can't cough it up and have gone to an ENT, gastrologist and several tests with no answers. Diagnosed as LPR but last test showed moderate acid reflux. At night mucus thickens and spend hours trying to loosen. It's been 3 1/2 years (after my 2nd covid vaccine) NO one has given me an answer or interested. I am lost. Diet, allergy meds no help....not sure what my next step is so disgusted!! We need help!!
I agree that we need help! Everyone encouraged us to talk to doctors but when I tried to have conversation I could tell they were “programmed “ with their statements or didn’t really reply at all!!
