@jaxtapoze I was in a wheelchair 6 years ago. I drank a fifth of vodka everyday for more than a decade. I realized one day, in order to leave the wheelchair, I must quit drinking. So on December 5th 2021, I quit drinking. I got out of the wheelchair one step at a time. First I stood up, then set down. I did this for days on end. Then I stood up, and set down without using my hands to push myself up. Last October I walked 17 miles unassisted in one day. When I quit drinking I did it one day at a time. Just like the wheelchair. One step at a time. Now I have 4.5 years. Everyday now, I walk nearly 20000 steps. Motion is Medicine has been my motto for quite some time. Walking relieves tension as I practice mindfullness and meditation. Its reduced my blood pressure and kept me in good enough shape to now be in the process of donating a kidney at the age of 65. I wish you well. Once again for the hard of reading, Motion is Medicine.

@trooperdogg1960 YOU, are an inspiration! My sobriety date is 12/16/17. I was also a fifth a day drinker. I made the rounds from bourbon to vodka. I got long COVID in 2022, which stopped my morning running and exercise routine. It helped me so much to do that. Cleared my head and I ran out the anxiety of life. And you are donating a kidney??? Talk about service work. I have read and know we have commented back and forth, but I am not sure I knew all that you have overcome. Thank you so much. It is inspiring.

@diverdown1 Thank you! Today Im going for my psychiatric evaluation. This is the last step I can do in Phoenix. After that I go to La Jolla or Torrey Pines California. The recipient is my sons aunt. She fostered my son for a year in '97-98, while I got custody of him. He was a handful at 5 years old. One time he went upstairs and peed down them saying " look guys, a waterfall " Hes 34 now and doesn't do that anymore. I figure I owe her and her family for treating my son like one of their own. I hope you have an awesome weekend. Better yet, go out and make it one.
