I was told that me getting Covid a while back made my BP higher?
and that's why I needed a dose increase. Could that be true? I think it was just a theory
I'm just scared because my boyfriend sounds sick and I have hypertension
When I got COVID that was a few years ago. Late 2022 and I got a dose increase 2023

If COVID actually played a role, it would have been temporary. You were probably told this as a working theory.
Blood pressure can fluctuate after an illness, and it settles back down over time. We’re still learning more about COVID-19 and how it can affect the body.
So if it was ever presented as a permanent change, that wouldn’t really be accurate. Once the virus is out of your system, your body’s hormones and blood pressure regulation return to normal.

Sorry I edited the post. Does that mean COVID did spike my Bp and it stayed that way??
@ehdog
No. You’re actually proving my point. While we’re still learning about COVID, we do know that any blood pressure spikes from it are temporary. Your dose increase had nothing to do with COVID, it was just that your body needed a higher dose, which is normal. Amlodipine at such a low dosage almost never provides full control on its own.
@ashlynnmae
What about people with genetic hypertension and how COVID affects them/their BP?
@ehdog
The same applies.
@ashlynnmae
Has it been looked into specifically?
@ehdog
Yes. I’m not just pulling this information out of thin air.
