I need to have a mastectomy and am considering a double mastectomy

I need to have a mastectomy and am considering a double mastectomy to reduce my chances of ever getting breast cancer again. I would love to get responses letting me know if you had a single or double and your reason why. It's a very hard decision to make and I really need to hear from others who have already gone through this. Thank you.

In my case I need to have a mastectomy in my right breast due to IVC with having Her2neu stage 1-2 grade 2 this is either a new or recurrence after 19 yrs returning. I chose to have my left breast done for my own security that I won't get this back due to all my past mammograms never showed any tumor
