I have just started taking Gabapentin to go along with lunesta.

I have been taking 3mg lunesta every night for awhile. However, I wake up a lot and sometimes have trouble going back to sleep. So I have now been prescribed 100 mg gabapentin to take at bedtime also. What can any of you who have experience with gabapentin tell me about that? Has it worked for you?

Polypharmacy never worked for me. Especially over prescribing of psychoactive drugs. Whar worked was desoresctibing under doctor supervision

I tried gabapentin and it made me feel weird and caused weight gain. I do fine on 3mg of Lunesta but I take 1/2 tablet, and when I wake at 2 or 3, Take the other half. Most nights I get 6-8 hours with one brief interruption. I wake rested with no daytime drowsiness.

Have you considered seeing a sleep therapist? I struggled with sleep for years after Ativan became ineffective, plus need to get off benzos. I saw a sleep medicine doctor and then a sleep therapist and we found a safe drug which has made a world of difference.
I have my times when my sleep isn’t great, but on the whole it’s so much better.

I have severe RLS and sleep is always a struggle for me. Gabapentin (300 mg) did nothing to help me sleep but it did give me nightmares and night terrors, quite severe in my case.

It made me very depressed. Suicidal thoughts. I will never take it again but it works amazingly well for others.

I took 100 mg of Gabapentin and really was impressed. It made me feel very calm and just good. Difficult to describe. However, I stopped taking it because I developed blurry vision during that time. It stopped when I stopped taking it, so…..it might have been coincidental. Idk. I may try it again if I ever need to.

My experience is much the same as yours. Unfortunately it has affected my vision also, although not as bad as ambien which also had the side effect of depression. I had to stop taking that. I’m hoping that in time the vision problem with Gabapentin will come back to normal.

@toren123 , have you had an ophthalmological consult to examine your eyes since having blurry vision and taking Gabapentin? By the time my eyes got checked I was off the med and my vision was ok. I just wonder why it sometimes happens.
