I am dealing with chronic pain for 1 1/2 years from Abdomenal adhesion
Does anyone with Abdomenal adhesions found successful treatments. I have tried physical therapy, chiropractors, exercises , stretches, dry needling, pulsed magnetic therapy and now injections in SI joint and facet nerve block ( mainly to rule out both) and Miralax. PT helped more than anything and cold packs which mainly allows me to not feel the pain. My biggest symptom is pain with sitting with 6-7/10 pain.

Have they recommended surgery to you?

No, been told surgeons don't like to do surgery unless you have a bowel obstruction. Have you or anyone you know had success?

1 ReactionI have literally suffered for 40 years from upper right rib pain. It controls my life. I had open gallbladder surgery in 1970, apendecty surgery a few years earlier, and a hysterectomy surgery in 1990. I'm now 78 years old. I've told every doctor I've ever seen that I think I have adhesions. They just don't pay any attention. Any time I use my right arm such as washing my hair and blow drying, from stirring gravy, and here comes the unbearable pain. Brings me to tears. Starts in front right, just below my rib cage, then to my side, and into my back and I feel like I have a hot knife stuck in me. Then in 2012 I got shingles on right side, so doctors blame my pain on post neuralgia shingle pain. It becomes depressing to live with this. I also have bowel issues, either pencil thin, constipated, or if I take a laxative I get the runs for 2 days. If Muralax, just gas pains and bloating. All I know is if my doctors had to live like this, they would do something. I don't think anyone can imagine the horrible pain unless they have lived it. After I get another issue seen about, I'm going to be in search of a doctor who will help. If anyone has my symptoms and have received help, please let me know. I'd about travel any place to get relief. I'm in Ks. Thanks for listening to my rant.
Did you ever try Myofascia release. I found it very helpful but had to discontinue because adhesions were around my solar plexus abdominal injury...just to painful to continue with.
@annieisezu812 I don't know what that is. I'm new to making posts on here. I just happened upon where I posted about my pain, but as far as I can tell, there wasn't any notice to me that you responded. How do I find responses. Thanks to you for responding. I will look that up.
Mayofascia is the white elastic thin type stuff easily visible on raw chicken breast. It can get damaged and grow thicker to form adhesion type substance..poor explaination without me googling it.
Mayofascia release is often not covered by insurance unfortunately. Its a type of massage but works much more on the surface of the skin. Mayofasia can get tight and cause severe pain. Not saying you have this but adhesions are usually a type of myofascia.
I only had 3 treatments , I got great relief, it works to relax fascia same as massage relaxes muscles.
Your email should always notify you that you have a response. I get a blue box under my message that says " view and reply ". Hope this helps. Read up on it, people/ Drs dont know too much about fascia and its often overlooked but can be a huge source of pain and greatly restrict movement....they say fascia has a memory, water apparently has a memory, so trauma if great enough ( mine was extensive ) is thought to be stored in fascia as pain, because fascia has a large water component. Gd luck...keep us posted!❤️
@anniezu812 IThanks, that sounds interesting!
@dinahj Sorry, it was A LOT!!...I'm not known for my short hand...😘
Im also going to try fascia release again...it helped me sooo much. Take care. Update us if you find anything else.
PS the lady I went to treated a young man crippled with adhesions from cycle accident, she got him moving again...I found it hard to believe so researched extensively before going. Be well if poss.

1 Reaction@dinahj Me again, what you describe sounds EXACTLY LIKE my pain. Like a red hot knife stuck thru my sternum between rib cage...about 3-4 " above belly button. I too have severe bowel issues. Pencil thin or total constipation . This is because the Celiac P. Is a large bundle of nerves which control most of digestive organs and often affects the colon badly / how it functions and causing pain.....this is my case.
I googled can gall bladder surgery cause Celiac Plexus pain, YES it can.
Im not sure if Celiac Plexus pain can be felt elsewhere, but if your pain located in that general area PLEASE mention it to a Dr.
Its taken me 17 yrs to get the diagnosis and nothing will EVER show on scans. If by chance you have it, the only real solution is Celiac Plexus or Splanchnic nerve block.
I also have excruciating pain when I use my arms, especially my right arm, lifting arms above shoulders is impossible sometimes due pain. If you struggle to eat thats another symptom.
Pls let us know how you do❤️
Thanks so much for replying. I have had a couple shots in my rib area, but never a nerve block. Always told me to close to my lungs. I'm going to start googling all you told me. I can't think we are the only people having this type of pain. I really don't think any of the doctors I've seen, have any idea how bad the pain is. I have sat right down in the middle of trying to cook a meal, and cried. Thank God I do get relief from sitting down. I've always loved cooking and keeping my home pretty clean. I've almost quit cooking, going to things I can hear up in air fryer or microwave. House cleaning is 1 room one day, and another the next day. Pain pills don't even phase the pain. Anyway, I'm going to research, and thanks so much. Hope and pray you are dealing ok with yours, although I know it's nearly impossible. Appreciate the time you took, and if I find help, I will let you know. I just started on Camzyos, a high priced med for Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomathy. Been on pills 5 days, so got to get through some of that before I start the other journey.
