How to stop weight loss while on zepbound?

Posted by jennyinindy @jennyinindy, Aug 1 11:19am

I started zepbound at 217 lb and am now at 138. I didn't have a goal weight in mind but when I reached 140-145 I was happy and wanted to stabilize. My dose topped out at 7.5. I asked my doctor for advice about how to halt weight loss but not get the cravings back. He suggested reducing dose but I'm afraid of getting the cravings back. I'm going to try sticking with 7.5 but extending interval to 10 days. I've been making some food choices to increase calories, like switching to whole milk. I don't like feeling like I'm on a runaway train.

Has anyone else had this experience? How do you handle this? Like with every step on this "journey," it seems we are each on our own figuring out even the destination.

The typical approach is to slowly decrease the dose and/or lengthen the time between doses (like every 10 days instead of 7). I talked with a pharmacist who had experience with this, and he said that it is normal to experience an increase in hunger and cravings when changing doses but that it usually improves after a couple weeks as your body adjusts to the new lower dose. He said it's important to ride it out and give it time to stabilize and of course to continue eating lots of protein and fiber, staying hydrated and exercising, which will help counteract the temporary increase in hunger.
