How about a laugh, (hopefully)

Posted by Leonard @jakedduck1, Dec 31, 2018

I believe laughter is the best medicine. Laughter has actually been scientifically proven to help people with depression issues.
Let’s give it a try so we can all get happy and feel better. Many Epilepsy forums I’ve been on had joke sections. I was probably the biggest joke of all since I didn’t get a lot of the jokes. They said the jokes couldn’t be above 4th grade level for me to understand them so my jokes may be rather simplistic but let’s give it a try.
Have a lovely day everyone,
Jake

Sorry! Couldn't help myself...🙃

What’s the difference between a general practitioner and a specialist?
One treats what you have, the other thinks you have what he treats.

Valerie, You are posting comments on "How about a Laugh" instead of "Just Want to Talk" topic and the mentor is trying to redirect you to the correct topic to place your comment under. No harm done sweet lady! Blessings.....

...yes but the comment was about posting Jokes? I thought that would be OK, guess I was wrong. Had seen the odd chat that was not a joke you see and nothing was said... anyway.... Thanks for explanation, I shall be more careful in the future and also hope others who chat about their lives etc. And don't just post a joke are also reminded, right? Jokes on me! Bye for now

I have several family members coping with serious problems such as marriage separation, severe drug addiction and newly declared lesbian. As the mother/ grandma, I want to help but they are withdrawing from me. I have few friends and am elderly. What can I
Do?

Take care of yourself! I would suggest listening if they ask for advice, but I personally don't think there is much you can do at this point. The first step has to be theirs. I wish you the best!

Valerie, Bless your sweet heart. Others have been redirected as well....I'm probably next. LOL. No harm done. The mentors are just trying to keep us all on the "same page" (Literally!). Praying for you! Hugs & Blessings....

Hi @sedama, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I see you have posted to the lighter discussion called “How about a laugh?” It is the lighter side of our usual health-related discussion because laughter too is good medicine.

However, I see that you would like to connect with others to discuss how you can support family members with serious life and health issues even though they are withdrawing from you. Please click the blue link to join the discussions in the Aging Well Support Group here:
