Honoring our "Veterans"

Posted by georgescraftjr @georgescraftjr, 4 days ago

Today has been an extremely rough day. My George is going through the "Terrible Twos" in full force. Nothing I can do or say has calmed him--until I gave him a gummy. (This gave me a breather, so that I can thank our mentors (our Forum's "veterans")--in celebration of Memorial Day weekend.)

In a recent extremely well-written and eloquent post, Tom G. paid tribute to the members of this forum. See:

I want to echo his sentiments, and to highlight the personal sacrifice made by our Director and mentors. Without your daily support and dedicattion, this Forum would not be the amazing community it is. So, from the depth of my heart, I want to thank all of you mentors--true "veterans". (My memory is failing, and I am not adept at recalling names; but for some reason, people like Scott and Sue have stuck in what's left of my brain.

Enjoy each day. With love and gratitude,

George's Wife

@dbamos1945 As a mentor, please accept my thanks for your words of encouragement. We each remember our "first days" of a new, scary diagnosis, and how great it felt to find this community.
As a long-time mentor, I thank all of the members who write here, encouraging others in some of the hard moments in life. Did you know that for every person who posts here on Connect, there are at least 10 "silent partners" who just sit on the sidelines and listen? You never know who you might help anytime you write!

@dbamos1945 As the mentor for this group, I want to thank all members for their generous caring and helping each other . Earlier today, as I was reading and ‘liking’ and ‘hugging’ so many of the comments, I thought how do I ever thank these wonderful people for all they do for each other? Even in your most difficult times you always think of others first. You are caring, loving and inspiring to so many people. And I have learned so much, thank you. My sister always points out, ”to the world you may be 1 person, but to 1 person you are the world.” Thank you!
