High Levels of Vitamin B12 and Ferritin: Any pointers?
What type of doctor handles test like the MMA Urine test and the HoloTC? Test related to how your body breaks down/absorbs and transport/bonds B12? My B12 test came back extremely abnormal.

Hemachromatosus?
Do you mind me asking the dose of b12 you take. I am similar high b12 ,normal iron
Has anyone had physical symptoms when they take B12? I started out taking injections due to a deficiency and did fine. Later, my neurologist said I needed a sustained regimen and prescribed 1000 units sublingual per day. I continued on that awhile and then reduced to 1000-3000 per week Dr. said that’s fine. He said no need to test levels now. It will be high, but that’s whats in my blood not my nerves. Just stay on it indefinitely. I’m fine with that. However…..
My curiosity is why each time I take it I have similar symptoms for several days. It then settles down and I won’t get them again until I take another sublingual dose. It’s making me dread taking it. Overall, I’m better, but these recurring symptoms freak me out. My neurologist was great, but he has moved to another state. Sigh. My symptoms include tingling, cold sensations, and intermittent burning skin.
Have u been checked for hemachromotosis ?
I doubt it, but I’ll have to check my labs. Last year I had multiple labs, and had these symptoms then too. It must have been normal if it was checked.
Its not routinely checked. Its called the Irish Curse.
People of nw European decent are suscepible. I am irish/scottish and from a large family. Several cousins and a sister are treated for it. Many are carriers but don't have. If they have children with someone else who is a carrier they can pass it down.
Phlebotomy is sll it takes yo fix.
Men get it earlier than women who can develop it after menopause.
