Hi @kwame09, According to the information on Mayo Clinic’s website, “ High blood pressure in younger children is often related to other health conditions, such as heart defects, kidney disease, genetic conditions or hormonal disorders. Older children — especially those who are overweight — are more likely to have primary hypertension. This type of high blood pressure occurs on its own, without an underlying condition.”

It’s important for your son’s doctor to help find any underlying cause that might be causing his blood pressure to be so high. There are a number of very reputable medical institutions in Chicago that should be able to help your son. You could try a larger teaching hospital. Mayo Clinic doesn’t have a campus in Chicago. They are located in Rochester, MN. Phoenix, Arizona and Jacksonville, Florida.

Here is a link to Mayo if you’d like to start the process for requesting an appointment at one of the locations.

Has his doctor determined a cause or are they just treating the symptoms? Are you able to try one of the larger medical clinics in Chicago such as, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Rush University Medical Center or University of Chicago Medical Center?
