Hi, anyone in this group with "juxtarenalaneurysm"

Posted by melcarey260846 @melcarey260846, Apr 14 3:47pm

Recently been told from my vascular surgeon that it is too high risk for any procedures. I'm age79 and my Aneurysm is at 5.5. Love to share this with anyone in this position?

Many thanks for the hug reply. My first response after joining this group
yesterday.
I'm hoping to connect with anyone diagnosed with "juxt arenal aneurysm "
and to find the latest possible treatment plan & any other alternatives.

Join the club. I am 91 and was measured at 5.5+ a few years ago. No point in doing 6 monthly measurements etc . Enjoy every day as a bonus. As the surgeon said " Its not a bad way to go "

@oldwal ..Thank you for your very sober reply & great attitude. I'm still trying to get my head around to thinking like yourself. I do have typical backache radiating down to the groin area. My surgeon suggested I get on with enjoying life and make the best of what remains.

Why are you too high risk?
What is too high risk for surgeon x may be low or moderate risk for another vascular surgeon.
Where is your aneurysm??

@hsminc Hi, my Aneurysm is 4mm from my kidneys...making for a complex repair with risk factors higher than normal.
This plus my age and fitness levels.

You are looking at a vascular surgeon rather than the CV surgeons that many members here are dealing with - including my husband.
Me- however, I am dealing with an aneurysm in a renal artery that is thrombosed - and possibly one in the splenic artery. These were a total shock to me - as was my husband's mid level ascending aortic aneurysm. Mine were found on a CT scan of my pelvis looking for an intestinal blockage, which I did not have, thankfully. I see a vascular specialist in a few weeks at one of the centers that specialize in this type of anomaly - and it is an anomaly - .1 percent of 1 percent have these. I am 83 and will not hesitate to have surgery if it is appropriate at this time. I do have a myriad of risk factors but this one seems like the most risky. A major center that specialises in your type of issue can deal with your risk factors.

Thank you for your very informative reply. Hope you have a satisfactory outcome after seeing a vascular specialist in the coming weeks. Age & risk will be the deciding factor for this rare anomaly - stay positive...best wishes.

God Bless everyone. I guess we try and stay as positive as possible.
