Has anyone tried the HF10 Spinal Cord Stimulation Device?

Posted by patrick17 @patrick17, Nov 21, 2018

Has anyone tried a device called HF10 ? It’s a device which stimulates your spinal cord to help relieve back and leg pain. After a trial period of about a week, if the patient is achieving good results the device is implanted in the person. My pain management doctor has recommended it to me for arm and hand nerve pain. I would like to hear from anyone who has used this device and especially from anyone who has used it for arm and hand pain. Thank you.

Thank you for your comment. I do have stenosis which is a nerve being pinched I also have other impingements and I have had a CT scan, numerous mri's so I have been through the mill with imaging. I have severe osteoporosis which prevents me from having just a laminotomy which could help, but unfortunately due to this severe osteoporosis and spondylitis I can't have surgery at least not now. I know I am misspelling things i'm just dictating into my computer and it doesn't always spell things correctly, ha ha.

Have you had the multiple injections/nerve ablation technique on your back? What's the plan that your pain management doctor has outlined?

They're trying the HFX on me. My pain management doctor said the battery can last up to 10 years, but tomorrow I'm just having the trial which they leave it in for a week to see if it can help me and then I can volunteer to have the permanent one put in.

Good luck with the implant device! Even if you get relief for a few years, that seems it would be a really good outcome.

It provided little relief.

Would you do it again ? My pain clinic Dr has brought that up to me but I know some people have said they wouldn’t do it again but I e also seen on here that they said it saved their life so I don’t know what to think

So far, I have not comtemplated the notion of restarting the stimulator. If you have one already installed, then maybe give it another try.

I had ablation and injections. The cortisone injection lasted about 2 days but I'm not supposed to get cortisone because I have severe osteoporosis. Anyway the SCS trial began Wed when they taped it to my back and is not doing much for me. The rep was asking me to put percentages on the relief I am getting which is like speaking Greek to me. I mean whatever it is it's not much. I have a few more days til the damn thing off my back . It feels like I have a cell phone strapped on my back making sleeping very akward. But I will wait it out I guess.

The trial isn't doing much for me.

I had the Nevro HFX stim trial. It was very uncomfortable. The battery was taped to my back on the right side, and it was quite big and I couldn't sleep on my Back or that side, plus I couldn't Bend, Twist and Lift anything over 3 lbs. Or ride my bike. All these things amounted to my having poor sleep and becoming very stiff. The Dr called me today, the day after I got the stimulator removed and told me I had to decide Today if I was going to move to the permanent implant. This makes me very angry, being an intelligent and very independent person. I'm not "obeying" the Dr. I'm going to try acupuncture and homeopathy.
