Has anyone had any healthcare at Duke University? Surgeries?

Based on your previous comments, I see that your current provider is retiring and you're looking for a new one. I have not personally been treated at Duke, but I have two friends who live in Wilmington, NC, and when they need to see a specialist or have surgery, they go to Duke. Their experience has been excellent. It is a hassle to drive to Duke for appointments, especially when they need to return often. Duke will ask you to provide any tests previously done so they can review. Your local clinics should be able to send information to Duke once you make an appointment.

How far from Duke do you live? Have you requested an appointment?

I live 2 hrs away! We live in Va/Tn on the states line. I have appointments set up for October. Everything I have read every one seems to always recommend to have a dr and surgeon familiar with Aorta aneurysms. So I’m trying to be prepared as much as I can.
Thanks for your insight 😊

Hi! Did you research who to go to? Or were you referred? If you don’t mind what is your drs name you are seeing? My dt name is Dr Alexander is who I will see . And then I’m waiting for the referral call for the surgeon for Dr Hughes .

@angiecabinfever1 I will let you know. Also let me know how your appointment goes. I pretty much wanted to see how I felt after talking to doctors at Duke before I looked elsewhere. Like you I have also considered Cleveland Clinic because of the volume & reputation but it’s definitely a long way from home. I would be interested to see your thoughts after talking to both hospitals. Sending prayers for you as well!
