Has anyone using Advair inhaler been able to successfully quit?

Hi all I am currently 50 years old and was diagnosed with MAC for the first time at 40. I tried stopping my Advair and was able to go from the 250 to 100 but have been unable to stop it less because of breathing and more because I just feel horrible all over (it took that just to lower the dose). I am beginning to think it’s from being on the steroid my whole adult life and I’m wondering if any of you have successfully been able to get off this drug since the risk factor for the MAC. If so I’d love any tips. I did the big 3 18 months (ending in 2018) & cleared cultures but it’s back. Thanks in advance

I was on Advair and switched to another bronchodilator without the steroid that my insurance would cover. I did not feel it made a difference and finally stopped all bronchodilators. I do airway clearance 2 x a day and use Ventolin in the morning. I have Bronchiectasis and a year ago was successfully treated for NTM Abcessus. This was my third time with a successful treatment over a 30 year period. I am now on Brinsupri for 4 months and I see a tremendous improvement. Each of us is different even though we have the same disease. Talk to your doctor. If it is helping then listen to your body and doctor.

I was on Advair 250 for several years and my pulmonologist switched me to Anoro since it doesn’t have steroids. I’m doing just as well. I have a prescription for Brinsupri 10mg, but haven’t started it yet. I’m glad to hear it’s working well for you. What dosage are you on?
