Has anyone used Trelegy?

Posted by guinivere @guinivere, Oct 24, 2024

I have been on Advair HFA for a long time, over 10 years. My COPD per tests today is stable, but I have wondered if I should switch to something different. I did not know the doctor I saw today but I had had a PFT test, shared my thoughts about being so long on Advair & she right off the bat suggested Trelogy. A once a day discus inhaler, bye bye to Advair & Incruse! Now that I have switched, I am anxious, primarily because I didn't get to discuss this with her. OR my doctor! I am going to try to contact him tomorrow but meanwhile would like to hear from anyone re Trelogy &/or Advair.

I used trelegy - 2nd day my shortness of breath was GONE! I’m 73 and have been inhalers my whole life since I was a toddler. I have to say this is the very first one that ever actually worked and improved my breathing. However, on about day 12, I started experiencing thrush on the roof of my mouth, with extreme painful sores and swelling, even though I practiced a rigid routine of rinsing my mouth and brushing my teeth as soon as I took my 1 puff daily.
I was so disappointed and had to discontinue. Hoping my pulmonologist will help me find something else in next weeks appointment.

I’ve been using Trelegy Ellipta 100mcg for several years. The “rescue” inhalers were not helpful at all.
Historically, excessive phlegm & coughing has not been an issue. I just stay short of breath with the least exertion, although, at rest, my oximeter reads 92-93 without supplemental oxygen. With the lease exertion, I have to have my M9 cylinder on 4liters/minute (wide open) just to walk 60’ to the car, then sit a minute until my heart rate goes down to 105 or thereabouts before I attempt to drive.
I’d like to know whether Trelegy Ellipta 200 mcg would provide any improvement.

@rickjudy2012 not sure but 200 is only fda approved for Ashma not copd but I know a lot of docs put their patients on it.

I was on trelegy for years, I was just put on breztri. I keep having to go back on prednisone, which is causing me other issues. It's too soon to tell if it's going to help or if I will go back on trelegy

@km6 why?

@lizjlb that’s what I had been told as well, but it seems some emphysema patients claim it’s helped them. It’s interesting to try to learn learn more.

@kmacky trelegy wasn’t working so my doctor put me on breztri was much better. There are so many inhalers out there you just gotta find what what’s for you. I just started being out of breath not sure if my lungs are getting worse

@km6 I was on Trelegy for a long time -- until, several months ago, I had trouble inhaling the full dose. My doc switched me to Breztri, but I had a bad (flush) reaction to it. So now I'm on a combination of Spiriva Respimat and Advair.

@hazely I am on Trelegy 200 as well and some days I feel like I cannot catch my breath at all. I did speak to my doctor about it and he told me to keep trying with it. 🤦‍♀️Not much help and it scares me. Having this disease scares me and I know I will get worse as I get older. I am 74 now. Thanks for listening!

Hi, I have been on Trelegy 200 for about five years now. I find sometimes before taking it that my O2 is at 98 or 99. So, I guess you can say it’s working for me.
I do still have shortness of breath, but that may me due to a heart valve issue I have.

I call Trelegy a wonder drug. I have used it for years. My emphysema is getting worse and so I am now I have a medicine I use in a nebulizer. I used to have to go to the ER several times a year. Since 2019 I have only been in hospital one time only. I credit Trilogy for that.
