Has anyone used Trelegy?

Posted by guinivere @guinivere, Oct 24, 2024

I have been on Advair HFA for a long time, over 10 years. My COPD per tests today is stable, but I have wondered if I should switch to something different. I did not know the doctor I saw today but I had had a PFT test, shared my thoughts about being so long on Advair & she right off the bat suggested Trelogy. A once a day discus inhaler, bye bye to Advair & Incruse! Now that I have switched, I am anxious, primarily because I didn't get to discuss this with her. OR my doctor! I am going to try to contact him tomorrow but meanwhile would like to hear from anyone re Trelogy &/or Advair.

I called it my miracle drug. I was in the hospital 5 times and rehab for a month and a half in 2019. I have been in the hospital one time for 2 nights since I went on Trelegy. I think it might be time to try a new one but it has really helped me.

I just started using it about 2 weeks ago. Not sure how it’s working, I’m having respiratory issues now but not sure if it’s related to the Trillegy

@johnnydale52 — if your O2 drops below 88% when you sleep, you qualify for a prescription for O2 and should definitely use it! I’ve been sleeping with O2 for nearly a decade and feel it really helps! I sleep through the night and wake rested. I have a quiet concentrator and keep it in room furthest from the bedroom and use long tubing to pipe the O2 from there to my nose with a Salter SOFT cannula. I’m convinced sleeping with O2 is keeping my brain & heart healthy.

Hi, thanks for the info. I spent all day in the ER, I have Covid and Pneumonia! My SpO2 dropped to 85 for a few minutes but went up. I will keep monitoring, especially at night ( often awake). Sometimes I feel short of breath but my O2 is in the mid 90’s.

You can only get reliable reading of O2 levels when sleeping with a recording pulse oximeter taped to your finger with alarm off. Your doctor can order it and it can be home in your own bed. Our O2 levels can drop once we are sleeping as most of us breathe more shallowly.

If you are awake, your reading is likely higher. Since I started sleeping with O2, my sleep has really improved. I strongly urge you to ask your doctor about a home overnight O2 study.

I have chronic COPD and use Trelegy daily in the am. It helps me and I have had absolutely no issues with it. I have been on a few different steroids over the years. Sometimes it is good to switch things up. I wouldn't worry about taking it. Hope this helps ease your mind. Best wishes to you.

I’m newly diagnosed and get very anxious when my O2 gets low. Occasionally, wake up at night with chest pain(emphysema) and use pursed lips technique to clear, then it’s hard to get back to sleep.

Do you use oxygen at night?

Thanks for this. I have pretty much decided to stick with my Advair. I have been it for over 10 years & I don't see any reason to discontinue it. Thanks for your input.

I was on advair disc for years then went on symbicort. I've been back on advair for over a year because my advantage plan wouldn't cover symbicort. I'm on anthem now and they will cover both. I believe symbicort worked better for me, so I'm planning to go back on it
