HAS ANYONE IN THIS GROUP BEEN PLAQUED WITH SCOLIOSIS?
I HAD BROKEN MY FOOT ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OVER THE YEARS, AND UNFORTUNATELY, ENDED UP WITH ONE LEG MUCH SHORTER THAN THE OTHER. I WAS LEFT IN MY WALKING BOOT THE LAST TIME I BROKE IT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND THAT'S WHEN THE MOST DAMAGE WAS DONE.
I AM TOLD THERE IS "NO GOING BACK". ANYONE HERE THAT HAS GONE BACK? DETAILS,PLEASE. GOD BLESS

If one leg is shorter - the Dr. should give you an order for a lift on your shoe. That will even you out and reduce your curve.
I HAV E WORN SHOE LIFTS FOR ABOUT 16 YRS NOW AND NO NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT HAS OCCURRED. I AM BEING TOLD I AM "TOO OLD" TO CORRECT!!!!!!! IT ANGERS ME THAT SOME OF THESE MEDICAL PERSONEL THINK THE WORLD STOPS WHEN YOU HIT 80! GOT NEWS FOR THEM!!! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO RESPOND TO ME.
GOD BLESS!
my friends Mom had a fusion at 80. though it was not scoliosis correction.
I am 77 and have suffered with a severe scoliosis curve since birth, exaggerated by a car accident at age 56. At that time my orthopedic surgeon advised to NEVER consider back surgery for scoliosis as I could end up paralyzed. I definitely would not consider surgery as an option. Scoliosis should be corrected before the end of adolescence when bones are malleable. I have a special brace ordered by orthopedic doctor and it helps with pain. Exercise every morning for 45 minutes and try to walk every day. Swimming laps and hot spa therapy helps.
Think carefully if any doctor advises surgery at your age.
Just my informed opinion.
IT GETS A BIT DANGEROUS WHEN SURGERIES ARE PERFORMED ON SENIOR PATIENTS. IN FACT, A LOT OF DRS WON'T EVEN SUGGEST SURGERY.
THANKS TONS FOR YOUR RESPONSE. EXCUSE THE ALL CAPS, BUT, I WAS ALSO BLESSED WITH MACULAR DEGENERATION (NOT A BLESSING FOR SURE) AND THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN READ MY MESSAGES AND/OR TYPE THEM.
GOD BLESS!
THANKS SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO RESPOND!
AS A P.S., MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU FOR THE PAIN AND SUFFERING YOU'VE HAD TO HAVE EXPERIENCED AND STARTING AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE! MAY GOD LIGHTEN YOUR LOAD!!!
PRAYERS GOING UP FOR YOU!!!
@jbcobb2380 , I’m searching info for a family member who has severe curve. She had scoliosis surgery years ago, but has been told she needs another surgery by multiple doctors. She is very reluctant. She’s almost 60. I’ve suggested she get an opinion from Mayo Clinic.
FROM ALL THE INFO I HAVE REC'D FROM SPECIALISTS, IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME TO DO THE SURGERY AT HER AGE. GOD BLESS US ALL WITH SCOLIOSIS!!!! MOST PEOPLE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE PAIN IS LIKE AND THE DEPRESSION IT CAUSES.
PRAYERS GOING UP FOR ALL OF US!!!
@amaimbourg ,
I appreciate your input. I have so much compassion for her. It’s just so unfair. She is a lovely, kind person and is really suffering. I feel helpless.
Have you ever heard of therapy for this condition by using a stretch bar?
