Has anyone had breast cancer with negative mamograms and no lesions?

Posted by sassega @sassega, 5 days ago

In January 2024, I had a hip X-ray due to a fall. The ER doctor said I had a lesion on my hip bone. Eventually, a biopsy was done, and I was diagnosed with ER+PR+HER2- breast cancer. My lesions were too numerous to count, but none were in the breast. I am currently on Ibrance and Letrozole and am "stable". It just seems strange to have breast cancer, but it's not in my breasts. Has this happened to anyone else?

I've had a cousin & good friend both diagnosed with breast cancer, one found in neck & one found in stomach - they both had PET scans & MRIs to find the origin in their breasts as they were told it's origin was in breast and spread through lymphatic system or blood. The MRI was given to help find what the mammogram didn't show. I'm glad yours is stable!!!

I had a cough that developed in the spring of '22. It wasn't unusual due to allergies so I went to my doctor and a chest X-ray showed a very small nodule on the right side and thought it was pneumonia. A month later and short of breath I went to the ER which I'm lead to the diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer in my right lung, pleura, lymph nodes, sternum and ribs. I was a mess. I had pleural fluid and a drain. My first treatment took all of it away within 3 months. I'm on my second line now, and still doing great.

Yes I had negative mammograms and ultrasounds, turns out after 6 months of trying to locate my primary cancer I had metastatic breast cancer. The cells had transferred to my abdomen where it spread to a mass tumour. I am now on IBrance and letrozole and I had 9 organs removed.
