Currently there is no evidence that ivermectin is helpful in either acute COVID or post COVID syndrome (long COVID). Ivermectin is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of any viral infection, including COVID-19. The safety and efficacy of ivermectin for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 have been evaluated in clinical trials and observational cohorts.
You can read more on this page that the FDA regularly updates:
- Ivermectin and COVID-19 https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/ivermectin-and-covid-19. The data from this FDA update is as current as April of 2024.

6 ReactionsI kind of doubt some of what the FDA puts out. At this point I'm ready to try it!

8 ReactionsI have, kind of early on in the fall/winter of 2021; my LC started around the 1st week of April of that year. It was helpful at first in small doses: 3mg TID for 5 days. My doctor prescribed it for me intermittently due to issues with liver damage with long term use. Slowly, after about a year, its efficacy began to decline, so I no longer take it. He was prescribing it at the aforementioned dosage once per month, then it was discontinued in early 2023 (Feb/March). Hope that information is helpful, best wishes on your recovery. I will be starting Intuniv (Guanfacine ER) tomorrow as there is evidence that it helps improve cognitive functioning; I have been diagnosed with MCI (Mild Cognitive Impairment at 49y/o). Hopefully it will be helpful as I am scheduled to return to work in two weeks. Fingers crossed and praying!

3 ReactionsThank you for responding. I don't think I will be on it as long as you were. I have side effects of every med I have been on. This will probably be the same. I should know right away. I pray it helps me.

1 ReactionOMG, no. New doctor needed, in my humble opinion. Absolutely zero evidential support for Ivermectin. Actually, i think folx have died taking Ivermectin.
Please see someone else, perhaps a functional med practitioner, especially if you are interested in alternative/nutrition and supplemental therapies. Ask others in your area for references.

1 Reaction@colleenyoung thank you for posting. I thought it had been debunked as treatment for long covid, but I'm glad to see your explanation.
Try the Nicotine Patch, 7 mg daily. It has helped me with energy throughout the day and I don’t seem to be as jittery. It may also be helping with brain inflammation as I don’t seem to be having the headaches I was having. All the best!
