Has anybody found relief for cramping of feet and legs?
I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, idiopathic, about 2 1/2 years ago. I am 81 years old and have been, walking, exercising in a pool, doing weight training and doing alot of exercises recommended for neuropathy such as balance and feet movements. I have tingling sensations in feet ,calves and beginning in hands. Some decreased sensation in my legs. Sock syndrome feeling in my feet. No real pain. For awhile my feet and legs were cramping ,at night, no major issue.Would use therawork, magnesium cream, heat. All successful. Recently the cramping has increased in intensity and frequencies to include daytime as well as at night.I noticed my feet and legs were cold. Using a heating pad,or foot bath worked temporarily. Now it has become a daily and nighttime issue. My sleep is erratic. The pain more intense.
I would appreciate any suggestions even from medications. I did think about buying feet warmers . If anyone has had success with such please advise. Thanking you all for reading and hoping to get some suggestions!

Cramps can really mess up one's sleep.
I posted here about my problems and some kind people replied.
Since then, touch wood, the problem or at least that problem, has gone away.
What I began doing on the recommendation of a neighbour, was drinking a 6oz glass of tonic water after dinner. Tonic water contains quinine, and that's supposed to help with cramps.
Worth a try.
As regards leg warmers, good idea. We are adopting a cat. She arrives tonight. Be a while before we can evaluate her leg-warming qualities.

2 ReactionsI too have T and cramping Cramping is in my feet my toes for some reason but I do red light therapy every morning Just put my foot on a scale it's made by bright health for 28 minutes it's timed and it makes a sound and then you're done No pain it's just like putting your feet on a scale when you're sitting watching TV or at a computer. I think make sure you're eating healthy and you want to cut out sugar as much as possible I did that and it seemed to reverse my peripheral neuropathy from my legs down to now just my feet. Good luck.

Do you drink a good amount of water and add electrolytes? That may help reduce cramping. It is recommended to have at least 50% of your weight in ounces of water (example, if 140 pounds, have a minimum of 70 ounces of water with electrolytes). My son and I use LMNT brand powder electrolytes. My son has a heart defect, POTS and raynauds. I have spine issues and neuropathy (small fibers). I also take alpha Lipoic acid and Acetyl l carnitine supplements which helps my neuropathy symptoms.
Have you ever had your lumbar spine checked for spinal canal/nerve root compression that could be behind your cramping and pain symptoms?
Hi to all,
I have a question. I am using gabantine 3 x 300 mgand tramadol 3 x 75 mg with paracetamol, and 30 mg 1 x a day and would like to know of any of you have experiences with taking Journavx? It’s a new medication on the market.
Looking forward to receive some information!

It sounds like you are doing alot to help yourself. Perhaps you can try taking Magnesium Glyconate as it helps to relax the body and keep cramps away. ALA has also helped with the neuropathy.
Thank you for the response. I been looking into electrolytes, will look into your recommendation. I do take NAC,ALA and L carnitine,so far difficult to assess. Have spinal issues like stenosis etc will check further.I live in a rural area, not to happy with my neurologist.

Yes I am on that page also. Thank you. I have tried so many things but have not looked into medications which I am extremely wary of.
Yes,I also am using infrared red from Inlight THERAPY. Placing pads on
feet, calves. No changes for me. Using sprays, creams, warm water
tx,magnesium and more as stated. So far no changes. Thank you for your
reply.
@v8auto will check into tonic water. I think I looked into that awhile back , hearing that it was not so great to use. But will reasses. Thanks!
